Introducing Hazel Health: a new telehealth program for student mental health services

Independence CSD is partnering with Hazel Health, a telehealth provider for K-12 schools, to expand mental health services for students. With Hazel, students can immediately speak with a mental health clinician from home or in school. Hazel services are available for all families in the Independence CSD, and due to a grant program in the state of Iowa, Hazel services are provided at no charge for all students at this time. Parents and guardians must give consent if they want their children to receive mental health services from Hazel Health.

Wellness Walk 2026!

At the end of the school year, our staff participated in the annual Wellness Walk, taking time to connect, recharge, and celebrate another successful school year together.

We are grateful for the many local businesses that partnered with us to foster employee connections, encourage networking, promote health and wellness, and share a few laughs along the way. These community partnerships help make events like this possible and strengthen the connections that make our community so special.

While students enjoy a well-deserved summer break, the work continues throughout the district.

Our dedicated custodial team is hard at work preparing our buildings for the upcoming school year. Countless hours are spent moving classroom furniture, deep cleaning and disinfecting classrooms, maintaining facilities, and completing important summer projects.

Their efforts often happen behind the scenes, but they play a vital role in ensuring our schools remain safe, clean, and welcoming for teachers, students, and families.

Independence Mustangs are on a mission to feed students breakfast and lunch this Summer!

On July 17th, students and families will be able to pick up their first Summer meal back. It will include breakfast and lunch meals for one week.
