Amazing things coming to the Advanced College and Career Center next school year! We are so excited to see our programs continue to grow.

Big news Independence! ✍️

We’re excited to announce that the TPSS ADVANCED COLLEGE & CAREER MAGNET CENTER PHASE 2 project has been awarded, the contract has been signed, and we broke ground this morning!

Brunt Construction, Inc. initially completed the Phase 1 renovation in 2023. Now, we're excited to begin Phase 2, which includes transforming the existing gym into a teaching school which will provide education for culinary, construction trades, welding and fabrication.

This renovation will provide 11th and 12th grade students from across the parish with the opportunity to earn nationally recognized culinary and industry certifications, helping prepare them for successful careers in the workforce. We are honored to be part of a project that invests in the future of our students and community, and in our hometown of Independence, LA! 👷‍♂️🍽️

🎓💊 Congratulations to Our Senior Pharmacy Technician Graduates! 💊🎓

They celebrated an incredible group of students who have successfully completed the Pharmacy Technician program through the partnership between the Advanced College and Career Magnet Center and Northshore Technical Community College.

Through dedication, hard work, and countless hours of classroom instruction, hands-on training, and real-world learning experiences, these seniors have developed the knowledge and skills needed to begin their journey in the healthcare field. Their commitment to excellence has prepared them to make a positive impact on the lives of patients and the communities they will serve.

We are proud of all they have accomplished and excited to see what the future holds as they continue their education and careers in healthcare. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement and best wishes for continued success!

TPSS Rising Juniors and Seniors are eligible to apply to Fast Forward Summer.

Applications have been sent to student emails.

Students will work during the assigned times and days to earn Advanced Certifications to Fast Forward their college and career goals. Please note that some assignments may require time outside of assigned daily class time.

Program Dates: June 1-25, 2026 (Monday-Thursday)
Program Times: 8:00am - 12:30pm
Program Location: The Advanced College and Career Magnet Center, 145 W 2nd Street, Independence, LA.
Compensation: $12.00 per hour plus a stipend of $100.00 per Advanced Certification Earned

NOTE:
Transportation WILL NOT be provided.
Application must be completed via student's email only.

Our 2025-2026 senior Medical Assistant students are completing their CPR certifications and taking the next step toward their healthcare careers as they prepare for summer internships!

These students have worked hard to build the knowledge, skills, and professionalism needed in the medical field, and this certification is another milestone in their journey. We are proud to see them gaining real-world experience and continuing to grow as future healthcare professionals.

📣 End-of-Year Schedule Reminder 📣

The last day of the school year for teachers will be a half day on Friday, May 22.

Staff will be off on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.

Office staff and administration will return Tuesday, May 26 – Friday, May 29 from 7:30 AM – 2:30 PM.

End of School Summer Bash going on this afternoon!

🎉 Summer break is almost here, let’s celebrate! 🎉

Bring the family out to the End of School Bash at the Hammond Recreation Center this Thursday, May 21, from 4–6 PM!

This FREE event for students and their guardians will include:

🎈 Inflatable obstacle course

🎮 Games & activities

🎉 Display tables and more!

We’re also looking for local businesses and organizations that would like to join the fun by hosting a table, game, or activity. It’s a fun way to engage with local families and be part of a great community event!
