🚨 Our schools need your voice 🚨
Public education is being squeezed from all sides, and our community needs to speak up.
At the county level, proposed tax credits are already raising concerns about lost revenue for our schools.
At the state level, education funding is being reduced.
Let that sink in… less local funding AND less state funding. 😩
And here’s what’s even more frustrating 👇🏼
Voters were told that gambling and cannabis revenue would fund education on top of existing funding. Instead, what we’re seeing is the state reducing what it gives schools based on what comes in from those sources.
That’s not what was promised. And it’s not okay.
💡 When schools lose funding:
* Class sizes grow
* Programs get cut
* Support for students and teachers decreases
This impacts every single one of us, whether you have kids in school or not.

At the same time, the state is reducing its financial support for education. This combination, local revenue uncertainty and state-level funding cuts, creates a situation that is simply not sustainable for our schools or our communities.
Additionally, I want to express concern about how funding from gambling and cannabis revenues is being handled. Voters were told these funds would be used to support education in addition to existing funding, not as a replacement for it. Instead, it appears that as revenue from these sources comes in, the state reduces its own contribution to education by a similar amount.
This is not what was promised to voters, and it undermines trust in the system. Our schools should be receiving more support, not having funding shifted around in a way that leaves them no better off.
Public education is the foundation of our communities. It supports student success, strengthens our workforce, and protects property values. When schools are underfunded, the entire community feels the impact.
I respectfully ask that you:
* Fully fund public education at the state level
* Protect local school funding from policies that reduce revenue
* Honor the original intent of gambling and cannabis revenues as supplemental funding for schools
Our students, teachers, and communities are counting on strong leadership and responsible decision-making.
