As another school year comes to a close, we want to thank our students, staff, and families for making this a wonderful year at Seckman Middle.
This year was filled with learning, growth, accomplishments, and memorable experiences both inside and outside the classroom. From academic achievements and performances to athletics, clubs, service projects, and everyday moments of kindness, our students continued to show what it means to be part of the SMS community.
To our 8th graders, we wish you the very best as you take your next steps into high school. To our returning students, we look forward to seeing you again in the fall.
Have a safe, relaxing, and well-deserved summer, Jaguars!

Earlier this week, we celebrated our students for their hard work and effort during this year’s MAP testing.
Students had the chance to enjoy inflatables, participate in a scavenger hunt around the building, and test their knowledge with trivia activities. It was a fun way to recognize the focus, perseverance, and positive attitude students showed throughout the testing season.
We’re proud of the effort our students continue to give each day at Seckman Middle!

Last week, we were excited to welcome our incoming 6th graders to Seckman Middle!
Students had the opportunity to tour the building, participate in team-building activities, and start getting comfortable with their future school community. They also enjoyed a special treat from Kona Ice during their visit.
Events like this help students build confidence, make connections, and begin the transition to middle school with excitement and support. We can’t wait to welcome this group of future Jaguars in the fall!

Mrs. Staely’s science students explored the Law of Conservation of Mass through a hands-on lab using baking soda and vinegar to inflate balloons.
As the reaction took place, students observed how matter is not created or destroyed, even when it changes form. Labs like this help students see scientific concepts in action and better understand how they apply to real-world situations.
It’s always exciting to see learning come to life in the classroom!

As the school year comes to a close, we want to take time to recognize the dedicated educators who are retiring from Seckman Middle. Today, we celebrate Mrs. Kim Heine.
Mrs. Heine is retiring after 28 years in education, all of which were spent at Seckman.
During her time at SMS, she served as both a SPED and ELA teacher while also coaching cross country and track and sponsoring student council. Her impact has reached far beyond the classroom through the many roles she has taken on to support students.
When reflecting on her time at Seckman Middle, Mrs. Heine shared that her favorite memories center around the relationships and friendships she has built with both coworkers and students. She will miss working with students, spending time with fellow teachers, and even keeping up with what’s trending.
Mrs. Heine hopes her students remember to expect the best for themselves and to enjoy their youth.
In retirement, she is looking forward to having more free time, especially to spend with her new grandson, work in her garden, and enjoy reading.
We are grateful for the many years Mrs. Heine has dedicated to Seckman Middle and the lasting impact she has made on our school community. Congratulations on a well-earned retirement!

As the school year comes to a close, we want to take time to recognize the dedicated educators who are retiring from Seckman Middle. Today, we celebrate Mr. Bryan Wyman.
Mr. Wyman is retiring after 29 years in education, including 10 years at Seckman Middle School.
During his career, Mr. Wyman has taught every subject in sixth grade and has also worked with students in 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade. His wide range of experience has allowed him to impact students at many different stages of their learning journey.
One of his favorite memories at SMS includes bringing history to life, especially lessons where students had the chance to throw an atlatl. It’s a great example of the hands-on learning experiences he created to make content engaging and memorable.
Mr. Wyman shared that he will miss the daily interactions with coworkers and the students who enjoy learning new things. He hopes his students leave his classroom not only with knowledge of history, but with an understanding of how the past shapes where we are today and what it means to be good citizens.
In retirement, he is looking forward to having more time to travel, expand his lawn business, and continue coaching basketball at Summit.
We are grateful for the years of dedication Mr. Wyman has given to his students and our school community. Congratulations on a well-earned retirement!
