Every Friday morning during Advisory, Seckman Middle students spend time silently reading.

It may not make for the most action-packed pictures we share, but this time is important. Regular reading helps students develop vocabulary, comprehension, background knowledge, focus, and the ability to work through increasingly complex texts. Those literacy skills support learning in every subject, not just ELA.

Great learning doesn't always require a big project, exciting lab, or special event. Sometimes it simply looks like a student, a good book, and time to read.

Mrs. Keeler’s math students recently practiced adding and subtracting positive and negative numbers by playing Integer Football.

Understanding integers is an important skill that students will encounter throughout their lives. Whether they’re tracking money coming in and going out, comparing temperatures above and below zero, measuring changes in elevation, or simply understanding gains and losses, positive and negative numbers are all around us.

By turning the practice into a game, students were able to strengthen their math skills while thinking strategically and working with their classmates.

Sometimes a little friendly competition makes practicing math a lot more fun!

Please join us in welcoming Nurse Jacke Kelly to Seckman Middle!

Nurse Kelly brings 11 years of nursing experience to SMS, with a background in cardiac and orthopedic nursing. She is passionate about encouraging healthy living and is excited to use her experience to care for and support our students throughout the school year.

Outside of school, Nurse Kelly enjoys watching her daughter play softball and spending time with her husband and three children. The beach is her happy place, Christmas is her favorite holiday, and you can probably guess her favorite color if you see plenty of pink around the nurse’s office!

We’re excited to have Nurse Kelly as part of the Seckman Middle community. Welcome to SMS!

Friday Night Lights are back!

Tonight, the Seckman Jaguars take the field for their home opener against the Oakville Tigers, and some of their biggest fans are our Jr. Jaguars!

Our Jr. Jags are excited to support the Varsity team tonight while also looking ahead to the future. With hard work, dedication, and a few more years of growing, it will eventually be their turn to suit up and take the field under the Friday night lights.

Good luck tonight, Jaguars! The future of Seckman football will be cheering you on!

Welcome back, Jaguars!

The halls are full again, and the 2026-27 school year is officially underway at Seckman Middle!

Today is the beginning of a new year filled with opportunities to learn, grow, make new friends, try new things, and create memories along the way. We’re excited to welcome back our returning students and especially excited to welcome our new 6th graders as they begin their middle school journey.

Here’s to a great first day and an even better year ahead. We’re glad to have our Jaguars back at SMS!

Please join us in welcoming Ms. Kelsey Williams to Seckman Middle!

Ms. Williams joins our math department with previous teaching experience at Northwest and Kairos Academy. Before beginning her teaching career, she completed her student teaching at Bernard Middle School.

Ms. Williams earned her bachelor’s degree from Southeast Missouri State University and her master’s degree from Lindenwood University. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys video games, reading, and kayaking.

Ms. Williams is excited to join Seckman Middle and is looking forward to working with our students and staff throughout the year. We’re excited to have her as part of the SMS community. Welcome to Seckman Middle!

Please join us in welcoming Ms. Ariana Lomax to Seckman Middle!

While this is Ms. Lomax’s first year as a classroom teacher, she is certainly no stranger to Fox C-6. She has been part of the Fox C-6 family since she was in Pre-K and has also spent the past several years substitute teaching throughout the district. After graduating from UMSL with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, she is beginning her teaching career at SMS as a Special Education ELA teacher.

Outside of school, Ms. Lomax enjoys reading, going to concerts, and hiking.

We’re excited to have Ms. Lomax join our team and continue her Fox C-6 journey right here at Seckman Middle. Welcome to SMS!

We’re back!

The 2026-27 school year is officially underway at Seckman Middle!

Our teachers are back in the building preparing their classrooms, planning lessons, and getting everything ready to welcome students next week. Meanwhile, our maintenance and custodial staff have been hard at work making sure our building and grounds are ready for another great year.

A lot of work happens behind the scenes before the first student ever walks through the doors, and we’re grateful for everyone who helps make it happen.

We’re excited to welcome our Jaguars back next week and can’t wait to see what the 2026-27 school year has in store!

As another school year comes to a close, we want to thank our students, staff, and families for making this a wonderful year at Seckman Middle.

This year was filled with learning, growth, accomplishments, and memorable experiences both inside and outside the classroom. From academic achievements and performances to athletics, clubs, service projects, and everyday moments of kindness, our students continued to show what it means to be part of the SMS community.

To our 8th graders, we wish you the very best as you take your next steps into high school. To our returning students, we look forward to seeing you again in the fall.
