West Hills Drummer's Workshop

West Hills Drummer's Workshop Private one on one instruction on snare drum, drum set and mallet percussion. My students range in age from 7 to 72. Call me at 412-310-9855 for more info.

Leave a message and I will get back to you ASAP. My name is Pat DiIanni and I have been playing professionally in the Pittsburgh and Tri-State area for over 45 years and teaching for 35 years. I specialize in rudimental and orchestral snare drum, and Rock, Jazz and Latin drumset styles. I also teach mallet keyboard to interested students. My home studio is equipped with 2 full drum sets, concert s

nare drum, practice pads, 4-1/3 octave marimba, sequencer, studio-quality metronome, congas, PA system, etc. I do spend a good amount of time on the snare drum/practice pad with beginning students until they can demonstrate adequate proficiency with reading, counting, sticking exercises and rudiments. I try to get interested students on the drum set as quickly as possible but this can take several months or longer depending on the students ability and his or her practice habits. Students are not required to play mallet percussion or drum set unless they have a desire to do so. Many of my school-age students play in their high school and middle school drum lines, concert and jazz bands, percussion ensembles, church worship teams and professional and amateur bands in the local area. Some of my more advanced students perform with the Pittsburgh Youth Pops Orchestra (PYPO), Three Rivers Young People's Orchestra (TRYPO), Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra (PYSO) and The River City Youth Brass Band (RCYBB). Numerous former students have been accepted into college and university music programs and have joined the ranks of professional performers and educators. I am currently accepting new students into my studio. I would love to work with you or your child to improve your or their current drumming abilities or help you get started. Call or message me for more info about my rates and studio policies. Pat DiIanni

Are you curious to experience the sound of this extraordinary sculptural cymbal? Visit my socials on Thursday!

Image description: A colour photo of Evelyn and a huge sculptural cymbal. Evelyn is wearing a pale blue hoodie over a grey t-shirt, black trousers and grey trainers that we can’t see, because she is knelt on the floor, on blue carpet tiles, against a background of percussion instruments of all shapes and sizes. Her long grey hair is loosely held to one side by a silk scrunchie which we also can’t see. This is because, in front of her, she is holding up an 89cm / 35inch sculptural cymbal, with amazing etched patterns in the textured hammered metal work, known as ‘The Giant Cymbal’, created by Steve Hubback.

Note to drummers.....Listen to all genres of music and listen to the masters, regardless of what instrument they happen to play. The incredible Michael Brecker.

Henry is a great student but more importantly, a wonderful young man. I love working with this kid!

Of course. The study of music results in loads of fringe benefits.

An extensive study has been released which found that students who studied music in primary school and into high school were almost one year ahead of their non-musically trained peers in their Maths, Science and English performance.
