FLEXIBILITY OF TRAINING SPACE

One of the many benefits of our Street Range training area, is that a single-topic subject (e.g. Concealed Carry) can be taught in a number of different range settings, all on the same day. During one class, the learner will practice everything under a different environment:

> 15-yard bay
> The Street Range
> The moving target range
> Inside vehicles

With the added benefit of being able to change each range around (target placement, driving routes, no fire mannequins etc.) we get to reduce the chances of the learner “playing” the range, once a course of fire is remembered, making them focus more on “why” they’re doing something, rather than the “how” to do it.

GOING 1-HANDED

There are things that we can drop & there are things we might need to control.

Or it might simply be that the decision to go 1-handed is because it’s ergonomically more effective to do so, based on where the threat is located in any space.

Deciding to go 1-handed should be a deliberate tactical choice, based on your environment, not a fall-back option because you’ve been shot in the arm.

The ability to switch between 2 and 1-handed options, during a single live fire exercise should be part of every conceal carriers regular training routine.

Understanding the “why” makes the “how”, easier.

DO AS I DO, NOT AS I SAY…

If you’re not doing what you’re teaching others to do, you might wanna revisit your approach to training.

One of our final training sessions at this location, before we move on to a new facility.

These two guys have been training with us for over 2 years now, and it’s fitting that they’ll be the very last people we train at this location, on the 31st August, before leaving here, on the 6th September.

After 5 years here, it’s like the end of an era.

We’ll let everyone know where we’re going, when/if we get the “nod”.

On the 9th of August, we helped Invictus Training Group with their Active (shooter) Response Training class, specifically for concealed carriers.

These were just three of the many discussion points, before the scenario judgement training started.

Being a responsible concealed carrier, is so much more about simply being able to shoot.

GOING 1-HANDED…

As a concealed carrier, law enforcement officer, armed executive protection agent or military operator, there are so many reasons why you might need to go 1-handed.

Applying a tourniquet seems to be the go-to reason, when in reality, the other reasons will probably be a more common occurrence.

ACTIVE (shooter) RESPONSE TRAINING

On the 9th of August, we helped Invictus Training Group with their Active (shooter) Response Training course.

The course was a blend of medical training and CCL-specific, scenario-based judgement training, using SIMS and role players.

It is one of the very few fi****ms courses, where live firing exercises don’t really achieve the desired training objectives.

As a CCW, there are so many things to think about during an active shooter incident. So many factors to consider before drawing your firearm, and so many things that can go wrong for you - going balls to the walls fast, might cause more problems than it solves….and no, slow is not smooth and smooth is not fast - slow is slow and fast is fast. The trick is to know when to do either.

For more info on this course, please contact Invictus Training Group directly.
