Is College Worth It?
As paths multiply, students face more choices than ever

For Carlos Artime, executive director of career & technical education at Collier County Public Schools, the central question is not simply whether college is worth it. It is whether students understand the opportunities available to them in order to make an informed decision.

“There’s this paradigm shift where it’s no longer college versus a technical college — it really isn’t. It depends on the need of the student and the best pathway for them to choose”, Artime said.

💈Cosmetology students give back to the community 💇🏻‍♂️

This past weekend our Cosmetology students put their skills to work for a great cause at the annual Lipman Backpack Event, offering free haircuts to local students. From fresh cuts to happy smiles, they helped kids start the school year looking and feeling their best!

Meet Luis, a student in the Building Construction Program at iTECH who has transformed his curiosity into confidence through hands-on learning and real-world experience. 🏠🔨

Since joining the program with no prior construction experience, Luis has developed valuable skills and discovered new career interests along the way. Some of his favorite experiences include working on actual house structures, installing ductwork for HVAC systems, operating a variety of power tools, and gaining experience with CNC machines to create engravings and cut custom boards.

Through these hands-on projects, Luis has not only advanced his technical abilities but also built the confidence needed to pursue a future in the skilled trades. In fact, after working on a ductwork project, he discovered a passion for HVAC and now plans to pursue a career in the field.
