Spartan Bridge

Spartan Bridge Welcome to Spartan Bridge! This alternative high school program formerly known as Venture High School is now located within the main high school building.

Please call for more information at 810-724-9898 to speak with our Dean of Students, Tim Wolford. Venture High School is part of Imlay City Community Schools; it is a self-sufficient, district-funded high school that provides 183 days and 1098 hours of instruction per year, the same as the traditional K-12 school requirements. Completion of graduation requirements will result in a high school dipl

oma issued by Imlay City Community Schools, Venture High School. All teachers and staff are state certified and highly qualified. Small class size allows our teachers to work directly with each individual student in a small group setting. The Venture High School program values a studentโ€™s willingness and desire to redirect his/her life, and to set and fulfill personal and academic goals. Venture High School offers a safe and productive living environment for students who want to gain a high school diploma. The Students here have the chance to attend the Lapeer County Educational and Technology Center while attending Venture High School. Vision Statement

The vision of Venture High School is to provide the highest possible quality education and services to students who have been identified as being "at-risk" for failure or dropout in the conventional general education structure. Belief Statement

Excellence is worth the investment of time, effort and resources. Learning is lifelong. The basic values of honesty, good citizenship, integrity and respect for others are essential to becoming a productive citizen in a democracy. Individual differences are respected. The partnership between school and community is essential for all to become lifelong learners. We serve others best by offering our best. We are passionately dedicated to serving our students and meeting the unique needs of "at-risk" young people. Venture High School Motto

โ€œKeep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who BELIEVE.โ€

In August of 2019, the legislature modified State School Aid (Section 101[10]), which allows schools to count up to 38 hours of qualifying professional development as hours of instruction.

If not needed to make up for instructional time lost due to inclement weather or other school cancellations, these days can be 'given back.' ICS has longstanding contractual agreements that require the use of this time in this manner.

This year, the number of 'qualifying professional development' hours is equivalent to four full instructional days. As a result, last night, during the regularly scheduled ICS Board of Education Meeting, the current school year calendar was adjusted to reflect this change in time and re-establish the last day of school for students.

Building a Healthy School Community Together

Dear Parents, Guardians and Community Members,
We need your help on TUESDAY, APRIL 28. Please join us at the Borland Elementary Library for a brief meeting at 3:45pm to discuss safe travel to and from school, and then participate in auditing the local (in-town) routes our students use to get here. The audit allows us to report out any safety concerns or conditions for improvement (think, sidewalk repairs, lighting, crosswalks, etc.) on student routes.

This is a real chance to provide input on possible improvement projects! The walking audit is also a way for parents, guardians and community members to see what our children experience as they walk and bike to school. The more eyes the better!

๐Ÿ”นNo experience is needed for this important job
๐Ÿ”นParents of walkers and non-walkers are welcome and needed!
๐Ÿ”นWe will conduct the walking audit, rain or shine
๐Ÿ”นMeet at the Borland Elementary in the Library at 3:45pm
๐Ÿ”นYour students, under your supervision, are welcome to walk along with you if you would like

After a short meeting, we will form groups and each walk 4-5 blocks. Once we return back at school, we will review what we learned and make suggestions to improve walking and biking safety for our children. We plan to be done right around 4:45pm.

For more information or to volunteer, contact Angel Watson, Borland Secretary at [email protected] or (810) 721-9282.

Yours in safety,
Dr. Cameron
ICS SAFETY COMMITTEE

P.S. โ€“ We will conduct the audit rain or shine. However, if weather is severe, please call the school.
