Great job to all those that came out and put in some summer work!

We had a great overall turnout for the camp of over 30 wrestlers with more than half being from Bonneville. 💪

Our camp clinician was amazing 🔥. Everyone learned some great techniques that we will build on during upcoming open mats and the high school season. We missed those that didn't join us, but we know summer can be busy.

We will plan on doing it again next year, so plan your summer activities around this weekend to be able to join us.

Hopefully everyone is having a good summer and is staying healthy. Looking forward to seeing everyone in the fall! Go Bees! 🐝

Scout is a Fargo Greco 16u Nationals All-American!!

Congratulations to Scout on an incredible accomplishment earned by a whole lot of hard work! 💪

And congratulations to both Scout and Owen for all their hard work this spring and summer with overall impressive performances at state, 16u duals, and at such a big tournament at Fargo Nationals. Both were double state champions in Freestyle and Greco back in April earning spots on Team Idaho for the 16u duals in June and qualifying them to compete at Fargo Nationals this month.

Fargo 16u Nationals recap:
At 126 lbs, Scout went 2-2 in Freestyle in a bracket of 137 wrestlers. Then he went 6-1 enroute to his Greco 3rd place in a bracket of 96 wrestlers. His only loss in Greco came in the semis against the eventual champion! He had an incredible come from behind victory in his 3rd place match. Down by 5 points, he scored a takedown and turn with about 13 seconds left. In that sequence he also forced a leg foul and scored an additonal 2 points to win 11-10! Thanks, Scout, for putting on such an awesome show to end the tournament!

At 120 lbs, Owen went 3-2 in freestyle in a bracket with 135 wrestlers. His second loss was a 5-4 defeat to the eventual 6th place wrestler. In Greco, he had a bracket of 100 wrestlers and went 4-2. His first loss was a score of 9-6 against the eventual 2nd place wrestler. His second loss was a tough 3-3 loss on criteria in the blood round to the eventual 5th place wrestler.

We love how dedicated both these wrestlers are and look forward to what they will bring to the team this fall. If anyone has any interest in making the trip to Fargo next year, I'd love to help make a plan with you to get you ready and would be happy to take you along with us. It's pretty cool to be at a tournament with over 3,500 high school-age wrestlers from all over the country! Team Idaho also provides a unique experience compared to other states where kids from all over the state come together to train and compete as one team. There is so much benefit in the training and competing throughout the process--even if you don't feel like you would have much success at that level--all the hard work will pay off during the high school season. As the saying goes: Summer wrestling makes winter champions.

The first chance for all of you to start that process is in 2 weeks at our camp on July 31-Aug 1. Make sure you get signed up and start getting ready for next season! Go Bees! 🐝

Come take advantage of a great opportunity to learn from and support one of our local east Idaho wrestlers that has gone on to the next level!

This is open to anyone HS and MS age, so if you've got friends that want to try wrestling, get them to come along with you.

All experience levels, any school 6th-12th grade are welcome. You can pre-register using the QR code on the flyer or use the link in the comments.

SAVE THE DATE

We are going to be hosting a 2-day wrestling camp at BHS on July 31-Aug 1. The camp clinician will be one of our local East Idaho college wrestlers that is home during summer break.

It will be open to all high school and middle school ages--and all experience levels. More details to come in the next couple of days, but I wanted everyone to know to keep those dates open. Make sure to spread the word. It'll be a great opportunity to refine and learn some new skills before the season.

We'll then use open mat times in Aug and Sep to review and practice the things we learn. It's going to be awesome!

This last week we had two of our Bonneville Highschool wrestlers compete with Team Idaho at the 16u National Duals in Farmington, UT. Scout Scott (returning sophomore at 126 lbs) and Owen Williams (incoming freshman at 120 lbs). They had the opportunity to compete against teams from all over the US in Greco-Roman and Freestyle. Both did extremely well. Scout went 9-1 overall (5-1 in Greco and 4-0 in Freestyle). Owen went 15-2 (9-1 in Greco and 6-1 in Freestyle). It's awesome to see all their hard work in the off-season.

Hello Bee Family—this is Jake Williams,
Some of you may have already heard, but I wanted to share with all of you that I will be the new head coach for the high school’s wrestling team! Taking on this role brings up lots of emotions, but I’m truly excited and can’t wait to get started on this new chapter for Bonneville. My main focus as a coach will be helping our young men and young women grow into the great people they are meant to be. I love the sport of wrestling for that reason—it provides an opportunity to grow, test yourself every time you step on the mat, and learn that you can do hard things. In order to help them achieve their best, we are going to need lots of help at every level from little kids’ club, to the middle school, and through high school.

I ask anyone who has a desire to see our program grow to come join in on the journey. Even if you know nothing about wrestling, we could use your help. There will be lots of opportunities from photography/videography, fundraising, organizing team activities, team swag, and many other ways that you can share your talents and help create an amazing experience for our athletes.

If you are interested in helping coach, there is a posting on the D93 website. If you’re interested in volunteering, learning, or simply cheering our wrestlers on, please reach out! I’d love to have a conversation to see how each of you could get involved.
