Across all of our classrooms, children participate in food preparation in ways that are appropriate for their age and stage of development. They wash, cut, peel, pour, mix, spread, serve, and clean up after themselves.
These simple, meaningful experiences give children the opportunity to practice independence, coordination, concentration, responsibility, and care for their community. They also experience the satisfaction that comes from doing something real and useful for themselves and for others.
