This post below is for team students. Social families, please have your children at the church by 3:30 on June 1st, dressed to dance. There is a kitchen to put your food in.

Thankfully, we will be meeting at the First Presbyterian gym on Wednesday, May 30th at the usual team times:

Pee-wee: 10:30 to 11:15
white: 11:15-12:15
blue 12:15-1:15
red 1:15-2:15
lift 2:15-3:15

We can only stay in the gym or use adjacent bathrooms and not be in any other parts of the building. There is a small playground nearby as staying in the gym all day for some little ones (and moms) may be long.

Thursday, May 31st is dress rehearsal noon to 3:30. Please be there at 11:30. I will have some Moms setting up costumes and lights (Alice, bring what you have). The janitor will be there to help set up chairs. I will not have the sound set up until Friday when Isaac comes. Darren Murdock who has so faithfully loaned us his sound equipment year after year is blind. He graciously will loan it to us and Isaac will set it up.

Michelle, please bring your speaker Wednesday and Thursday.

Friday call time is 11:30 in full makeup and hair already done. On that note, girls may wear their hair how they wish, as long as no long ponytails to slap boys as they twirl, and it is out of their faces. Men, you need to have it combed neatly, but not gelled.

Busses unload at 12:30. Matinee at 1:00. Next show at 4:00. There is a full kitchen at our disposal for the food we bring. If anyone wants to bake a few more cookies, I'd like to hand them out to seniors and special needs guests before the show.

If you (Moms) have not let me know that you can bring a side dish and dessert, please notify me. We need some gluten-free options. There will be sandwich platters as the main dish provided.

If you have any outstanding payment, please pay in full Wednesday.

I apologize for not being on my game in the opener last week. Reality hit that this was our last time in the studio with my kids. We will review it full out a few times Wednesday as we will closer.

Attire for opener and closer is black bottoms of some sort and Klass act t-shirt.

Please bring nice clothes for the dance. Unfortunately, it's deodorant and cologne before the dance as there are no showers we can access unless we all run to the Bohmans (just kidding, Rebecca.)

I still need someone to monitor the little boys backstage and someone to video.

Please invite many to our curtain call show. I am sure to be a blubbering mess.

If you have costume pieces at home, please bring either Wednesday or Thursday.

Ten years ago, we began our journey as Southeast Idaho Ballroom to--Klass Act-- with my 5 kids and a few other homeschool families under the coaching of Arica Lipp as a social dance program (Stoker-Sproul.) I never imagined we would become a full-fledged ballroom competing team as of 6 years ago and I would become its director alongside the coaching of Michelle Summers after Arica moved, and my home would become a warehouse for costumes.

My kids are growing up or have grown up and we lost a significant amount of seniors this year. Several weeks ago, Michelle rushed over words and called Klass Act, "Klass Fusion"--merging her two team names. It turns out it was a prophetic name as Klass Act merges with Dance Fusion. The past few weeks have been bittersweet for me. I have met some fabulous people and fantastic coaches along the way. Thank you for sharing my journey.

You'll still see me at competitions, cheering for my "Klass Fusion" (no it will remain Dance Fusion) kids but not in a Klass Act gear, but with my "mom hat" on.

Our end of year show--"Shine" will be our curtain call. We'd love for you to join us.

If you have not heard, this will be the final season for Klass Act Ballroom, one year short of a decade. However, Michelle's Dance Fusion in Rigby has a fantastic ballroom program and she plans to continue the social program during the days on Mondays, perhaps weekly. Both social and teams are performing at the end of Year Recital, June 1st. The social dancers will be part of the 4 pm program.

May 7th (social) is Michelle's Dance Fusion recital at 6:30 at the Civic. She will be teaching only the social classes. At noon to 12:45, I will finish the opener as a group. Please plan to be there for that entire time.

"Sir Caleb" will be teaching team time and it will be tight.

12:45-1:10 is p*e wee
1:10-1:40 is white
1:40-2:10 blue
2:10-2:40 red
2:40-3:15 lift

May 14th is regular team day

May 21st is the final social class

Instead of Memorial day, we will have team day May 30th. If it is good weather, we can practice at the church gym, but if rain, their gym will be used and we'll be at DTA at the normal times.

May 31 is dress rehearsal noon-3:15 but call time is 11:30. There is some setup.

June 1st call time is 11:30 and busses unload at 12:30 so we can start promptly at 1:00.

Hard to believe we are in our last month. Seasons fly by.

Isaac Hassel, retired from Klass Act Ballroom, and current KAB dancer, Alyssa King, storm the 2018 Amateur Cabaret US National Dancesport Championships with their "Warrior" performance. Likely the first ever "Ranger Roll" in cabaret history! Also the only instrumental music at the competition.

Normally cabaret routines are graceful and beautiful; emotional roller-coasters of romance, sadness, and joy. Enough of the sappy love stories! We dance not ...

for teams for Gem State

1--I will have tickets for all dancers at 8 a.m. Thursday morning at the table. Dancers must have them on every day they are dancing. Parents, please keep them if you think your dancer may accidentally forget or misplace it. I believe on days not dancing, they must pay admission, but I have a question into Louise the check-in lady for an answer. If you cannot pick up your ticket Thursday (I will be at the competition until 10:30 pm that night) before I leave Skyline (I'll meet you at the door to hand out if needed), then you can get them Friday. Call me when you arrive and I'll send a runner to get them to you.

2--TRIPLE check your personal dance bag for shoes, tights, fishnets, makeup, comb, gel, deodorant and/or body spray, syllabus clothes, mouthwash or mints and any other item that will NOT be in the prepared costume bags. I carry a first aid kit, pins, extras of other dance items, but it all fits in a bin.

3--EAT, SLEEP, DANCE, REPEAT. I cannot stress enough to bank up on sleep before Thursday. Eat a healthy diet as well before and during competition. WATER, WATER! Easy to remember under normal circumstances to use the 8 oz x 8x/day water rule, but more if you are dancing. Yes, some dancers have passed out due to dehydration or lack of nourishment. Bring protein filled snacks and lunches especially to nibble between events. Sugar is not the best option (yes, I ruined that theory today.) Carry a water bottle to refill with you. I will have a case in the girl's locker room as well to distribute as needed.

4--CALL TIMES! This means be fully prepared with hair and ladies makeup (yes, false eyelashes junior/youth girls) done!

Thursday--p*e wee and pre-teen 8 a.m. The first event begins at 9 a.m. and you are #10 and #15.
Friday--Red/Red lift Call time 11:30 a.m. Blue team does not start until 2:45, so if you are blue team ONLY and don't need to watch Red lift, you may come at 1:00 pm. We have no junior teams.
Saturday--hoo hah, call time is 7 a.m. in full regalia for junior syllabus. Youth syllabus call time is 10:30 a.m.

5--Each gentleman will have a 3 x 5 card. For those double dancing in junior/youth or bronze/silver, you will need to follow this. I have cards made for boys all ages.

6--Any willing men to patrol all the boy's assigned locker rooms at varying times are encouraged. The girls usually have plenty of adult women in the dressing rooms, but not so much for the boys. Isaac will be there all day Thursday to assist as needed for PW and PT.

Youth Open events are Saturday evening, but you are free to stay and cheer Becca, Andrew, Jacob, Elijah, Sarah or hit the road. Team Match will go until after 11 pm. We are not doing team match.

Look at all the attachments for specifics. Please call, email, text any questions. The only dumb question is the one not asked.

I have a lot going in my mind, so feel free to remind me of things I may be forgetting.

I ask as always, that Klass Act families represent kindness, team spirit, courtesy, encouraging words to other team's dancers, thankfulness to those making this possible--even volunteers at doors checking stamped hands.....let's keep a positive outlook and gracious attitude.

I'm proud of all of you--Moms, Dads and dancers.

Due to Gem State competition March 22-24th, we (team) needs the 19th for full team day to practice. I apologize for the change in schedule. Instead of March 19th for social day, we are moving it to March 26th. I ask that all social families contact me to confirm you received this email as we will be rehearsing at the Rigby gym on the 19th and won't be at Dance Tech.
thank you for being flexible.

Wish I had a few photos to share, but we were caught up in the moment of great fun and dancing to take any. Parents, if you did, please share them! I am so proud of our dancers. Parents, thank you for your baked goods and time making this happen. A BIG thank you to the Virginia Theater and the Improv Underground. If you missed it, well....you missed a fantastic evening!
