PRESS RELEASE
Boise County Sheriff’s Office
April 28, 2026

On Tuesday afternoon, April 28, 2026, the Idaho City High School front office received a phone call from an unknown individual claiming they were en route to the school to cause harm.

As a precaution, Idaho City Schools were immediately placed on lockdown. Law enforcement, fire, and EMS personnel responded and began assessing the situation.

Shortly after the school was put on lockdown, the Idaho State Police advised that the call was linked to a hacker group responsible for making similar threats to multiple schools and businesses across Idaho at approximately the same time.

After a thorough assessment, the threat was determined to be a hoax. The lockdown was lifted, and additional law enforcement personnel remained on campus until the end of the school day to ensure the continued safety of students and staff.

The Boise County Sheriff’s Office takes all threats seriously and appreciates the cooperation of school staff, students, parents, and partner agencies during this incident.
