An ounce of prevention…….

We are likely to receive some of the coldest temperatures since February 2020. Experts are saying the temperature may stay below freezing for at least 72 hours beginning Sunday evening. We could see wind chills drop below -10.

The cherry on top is that a strong storm system will likely bring sleet eventually turning into snow . Models are being evaluated on the amount of precipitation we could receive. Any amount of accumulation would likely last until next Thursday.

With these conditions likely, we strongly suggest that you make preparations by checking on your elderly neighbors, winterizing your plumbing and ensure any outside animals have adequate protection from the elements. We recommend that you have plenty of bottled water,essential grocery items, extra batteries, plenty of firewood/propane, and a few extra pieces of plumbing in case you or your neighbors have a burst pipe.

Please use caution in the use of any space heaters. Do not plug them into power strips or extension cords. Keep the immediate area cleared of all belongings such as clothing or bedding. The improper use of space heaters is one of the main causes of structure fires in our county.
