Dear Incoming Kindergarten Parents,
Welcome to Lincoln kindergarten! It is our pleasure to welcome your child as part of our school's youngest class. There is some important information we need to discuss so your child will be all set to start kindergarten on August 26th. It is a state requirement that all incoming kindergarten students take the Kindergarten Entrance and Exit Placement (KEEP). This placement test gives us as a school and teachers an idea of the skills each student has entering kindergarten. At the end of the school year, the test is administered again to measure the growth each student made over the year. At Lincoln, we also use it to determine those students that may qualify for All Day Kindergarten (ADK). We are hoping with the amazing gains our ADK students made last year, that ADK will become a permanent fixture at Lincoln.
Because of the nature of the KEEP Test, we cannot place your student in a class until they have been tested. We will be testing students on Tuesday, August 11th and Wednesday, August 13th beginning at 9:00 a.m. and going until 3:00 p.m. The test takes about 20 minutes and is done in a one-on-one testing situation with a kindergarten teacher at the school. Please email me at: [email protected] to schedule a day and time. Please include your student’s name, requested date, and THREE possible times you could bring your student. Once I get your student on the schedule, you will receive a confirmation email verifying the date and time. If neither of these dates work for you, please contact the same email to set up a different date.
Once we have the majority of students tested, we will be able to post class lists. Also, if you know anyone that is moving into our boundaries or haven’t registered their kindergarten student yet, please have them email me to set up a time to come in and register.
