The landmark education policy plan for Maryland public schools enacted in 2021, the Blueprint for Maryland's Future, is facing its first serious funding headwinds. Noting that this is not about funding for school construction.
So far, Governor Wes Moore is pledging full funding, despite a projected budget deficit. Unfortunately, we can't say the same thing for leaders at the county level. This coming Monday evening is the first opportunity Blueprint supporters have to push the PG County Council to maintain its commitment to our kids and teachers!

According to our our fabulous School Board Member Pamela Strother, wonderful things are happening across our community due to the Blueprint funding. Pre-K programs are being stood up, college readiness programs are going into effect, teachers are using the resources to achieve Board Certified Status, there are more than 100 community schools in our county receiving beefed up Concentration of Poverty Grants through the Blueprint.
All of this is endangered if the funding formula that state AND county lawmakers approved is not maintained. And remember, this funding is, at its core, an effort to RESTORE funding levels that previously existed before previous budget setbacks.
