Big News for Cape Cod Community College and our marine trades!

We've been approved by the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development Division of Apprentice Standards to offer the FIRST Registered Apprenticeship for marine outboard technicians in Massachusetts. It's also the first registered apprenticeship in our college's history.

Here's how it works: apprentices get hired first and trained along the way. They'll earn a paycheck from day one, learning on the job at Martha's Vineyard Shipyard, our founding employer partner, while completing classroom and hands-on training through Cape Cod Community College.

A $117,000 award from the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development Division of Apprentice Standards will cover instruction costs for participating employers for three years, help apprentices with transportation, and give every apprentice their own toolkit.

Apprentices will work toward Yamaha ITOS, ABYC, OSHA 10, and Hoisting credentials. The first cohort starts in January 2027.

Cape Cod Community College is launching a Medical Interpreter Certificate Program (English-Spanish & English-Portuguese) this fall. If you're bilingual and want to put that skill to work helping patients and healthcare providers communicate clearly, this could be a great fit.

- Program runs November 10 – January 26 (live virtual classes via Zoom)
- Must be bilingual in English-Spanish or English-Portuguese, authorized to work in the U.S., and pass a language skills assessment

September is Workforce Development Month in Massachusetts!
