Choose who gets the "say."

Choose who gets the "say."

I don’t know what they did.

I don’t know how deep the wound is from them.

I don’t know how long you’ve been struggling with the impact of their actions.

But I do know that the person who hurt you doesn’t get the final say.

They don’t get to steal the joy from the rest of your life.

They don’t get to determine your worth.

They don’t get to ruin the plan God created for you long ago.

They don’t have that kind of power.

I know people can leave marks that affect you... and may even feel like they’ve destroyed you.

But no one can destroy you, friend.

The best thing you can do isn’t seek revenge.

It isnt to give up, either.

The best thing you can do is decide you are worth more than how they treated you.

Because you are.

And stand up again.

There is nothing too deep or too broken that God can’t heal.

And His plan for you does not end in defeat.

This is the time to allow His story of redemption in your life to play out.

He always redeems.

He wants to show you how much bigger than any human He is.

He wants to show you how you overcome this.

He wants you to know that He has seen you from the beginning of time, and knows your pain.

He also wants you to know that there is more than this. So much more.

It might be a process of healing.. but you are worth it. You are worth the help and support you might need to heal.

Don’t let the person who hurt you have any more day in how your life goes.

Because God says He will redeem you.

And He doesn’t lie.

Grief Groceries!
I saw this letter today- as a funeral directors son, I have been around this for years. This is some of the best advice I have ever seen.

“Hey there, Thanks for writing. I’m really glad your friend has you in her life.

I get it. Grief is a funny thing. It’s the time in our life when we most need help, and also the time when asking for help is so hard. Not because we are ashamed to ask for help, although that happens sometimes too. But mostly because our brain just sort of shuts down.

When my Dad died, I looked functional. But I wasn’t OK. Not at all. And when the news got out, the ton of people flooding me with calls, texts, and DM’s was overwhelming. I really couldn’t function. I sat on the swing in our yard and just stared into space. People called and asked what they could do to help. I had no idea.

“Well, anything you need at all, let me know, OK?”

“OK”.

They hung up. I stared into space some more.

I had no idea what to do. What I needed. I didn’t even know what to ask for.

Then a friend sent a text. This friend had met Dad once but didn’t really know him. But still, she knew I was hurting. I saw who it was and almost put the phone down without reading the text, but I saw the message and it stopped me:

Will you be home at 8:30 tonight?

What’s weird is this friend lives 12 hours away from me.

Yes, I replied.

“K.”

10 minutes later, she said, “Instacart will be there at 8:30. Open the door for them.”

“What?”

“Grief Groceries.!!”

When Instacart showed up, they put two large bags of groceries on my porch. Frozen pizzas. Ice cream. Oreo cookies. Tinned soup. Stouffer’s lasagna. A gallon of milk. Like that. Things I could heat up if I needed a meal, or pig out on if I needed fat and sugar. Sometimes, you just need to eat half a box of Oreos.

Notice she didn’t ask if I needed any food. I would have said no. She just asked if I would be home.

Grief groceries.

Another friend, who lives out of town, asked Renee to name a restaurant near our house where we like to eat. There is a local chain near our house that is sort of a deli. When we eat supper there, we spend about $25. Renee told her the name of the place.

An hour later, there was a gift card in my inbox for $250. Yes, that is a lot of money, and I understand not everyone can do that. But the wonderful thing was that because it was enough for multiple meals, we didn’t try to save it for “the right time”. We ate there that night, and take out from there several times a week for the next month on nights when I just didn’t have the spoons to cook.

Both of those gift-givers knew something I didn’t know – that when you are grieving, you don’t want to make decisions. No, that’s not quite it: You can’t make decisions. You hit decision fatigue really fast.

So, I guess what I’m saying is, don’t ask grieving people to make big choices or decisions. “How can I help” is a big choice. But “Can I take the kids this afternoon so you can have some time to yourself” is a much smaller one. “Will you be home tonight?” is a small choice. “What restaurant do you like” is a small decision. Just showing up to cut their grass because you noticed it needed cutting is loads better than asking, “Do you want me to cut the grass?” Or, “I’m going to Target. What can I get you while I’m there?” is better than “Can I run any errands for you?”

It won’t always be like this. If you stick around, eventually they will surface and ways to be helpful will make themselves known. But in the first few days, especially, it helps to remove as many decisions from their plate as you can!”

That's why I do what I do...
Because there MUST be effective solutions to release traumatic memories.

I help stop unnecessary human suffering, without it hurting more.
I am a bridge between wounded hearts and peace with God and Self

Much of our wounding occurs prior to the acquisition of language and is not able to be healed through the questioning and reorganization of patterns of thinking. In other words, we can’t think our way out of trauma.

When our capacity to process unbearable terror, panic, shame, and rage is overwhelmed, undigested pieces of experience are held subcortically and in our cellular circuitry, unreachable by thinking which is a layer removed from the fires of the alchemical body.

Encouragement to “just get over it, that’s totally irrational, you can’t really believe that, you know that’s not true” and so forth is experienced by an inflamed nervous system as the activity of violence and aggression.

It’s like an autonomic form of gaslighting and reflects a deep misunderstanding of trauma and the workings of implicit memory, and only contributes to re-traumatization, in personal, cultural, and collective networks.

In addition to shattering and unendurable experience – which is painful and terrifying enough – there is a profound sense of aloneness that goes with this, the sense that no one can understand, that there is no companionship into the dark night. I am alone in this. This is devastating to the soul.

When that raging alive little boy or aching little girl cries out longing to be held, to be known, to be felt, to be heard, to be remembered… peeking their little heads out as if to say, “Is it safe now? How about now? I’ve been waiting for so long for a companion and friend. How about now?”, they’re really not all that interested in our clear cognitive analysis, rational inquiry, powerful spiritual insight, and thoughts on the matter.

They’re yearning for something else… for you, for your heart, for your holding. To know that you will stay near, that you will not abandon or shame them, that you will do your best to provide sanctuary and safe passage for them to come Home, to be allowed to come out of that frozen state and live once again.

In this way they don’t even want or need to be healed, but to be held. And to feel safe.

Primary Questions

A Primary Question is a dominant question that filters your conscious and unconscious thinking on a consistent basis in your life. It becomes the ultimate laser and/or filter for what you consistently notice (or fail to notice) and experience in your life.

Criteria For Determining Your Primary Question

1. You ask the question constantly across contexts.
2. You believe that if you live by this question, you’re fulfilling the purpose of your life. You believe that your question leads you to ultimate opportunity, ultimate pleasure, ultimate success – anything where you definitely will avoid pain and gain pleasure.
3. If you don’t live by this question, you believe you will be in massive pain. It could even mean life or death – a survival instinct question.
4. You associate strong emotional intensity to the question.
5. Your identity is often tied to the question.

I found the subject of Primary Questions fascinating because of the 20 plus years I invested into designing my life. I invested more into the area of personal development than my college education. I never heard of nor focused on Primary Questions before. Using the above criteria, I found that my Primary Question was:

Why am I not worthy of love?

I remember looking at this question after writing it and realizing how it made sense as I looked at my life thus far. This question shaped my childhood. It shaped my relationship with my parents. It filtered whom I was comfortable with as a friend. It determined whom I date and my level of intimacy with them. This question caused me to play the game of life from behind at first and ultimately play the game of life small. This question gave me an excuse if I was rejected. It protected me because I never went after what I truly wanted.

So what do you do when you have a question that is disempowering you and keeping you from living a true fulfilling life? You come up with a new empowering question of course! To come up with a new empowering Primary Question, we were asked the following questions:

1. What do you need to give yourself that you’ve been pursuing through this question?
2. What is a question that would give you what you need, but at the same time, allow you to preserve the initial positive intent behind your old Primary Question?
3. What is your new empowering Primary Question – one that fulfills your needs and leads your life in the direction you desire and deserve?

Date with Destiny, Page 79

The first question, I answered: Love, Appreciation and Gratitude.

The second question, I answered: A question that gives me love and appreciation that I am a child of God and worthy of love.

The third question, my new Primary Question, is:

How can I enjoy even more of God’s love and share it with people I come in contact with?

This new empowering question changed my life. I no longer live life from behind. In fact, I live life with an unlimited abundance love, gratitude, appreciation, happiness, joy, excitement, inspiration and fulfillment! I am more resourceful in my business. I am a better father to my children. I feel I have everything inside of me to accomplish anything I set my mind to.

I leave you with this. Regardless of what your spiritual beliefs are, you are alive and you deserve to live a life of fulfillment, love and peace. You deserve to be happy mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually and financially. You do not meant to nor deserve to suffer. What if by changing the Primary Question you ask yourself, changed the course of your life? It changed my life and I am grateful for it!

All the best, love and be the change you want to see in the world!
