Right before spring break we were so fortunate to welcome a variety of professionals from our community who took time out of their day to share about their careers, experiences, and pathways with our students. From answering questions to giving real-world insight, they helped make learning come alive in such a meaningful way!

Our students had the opportunity to attend three different presentations of their choice. Students were able to explore different career options, make connections, and start thinking about their own futures. 💼✨

A huge THANK YOU to all of our guest speakers for investing in our students and inspiring the next generation. We appreciate you more than you know!

One of our students was so excited to show us their nails a few months ago.

We are loving these “I love me” nails. They are definitely counselor approved! 💅💙

What a powerful reminder that self-love matters. As counselors, one of our biggest goals is to help students see their worth, build confidence, and feel proud of who they are, inside and out.

Every student deserves to feel this way about themselves: confident, valued, and enough just as they are. 💛

Keep shining, keep believing in yourself, and never forget… you are worth loving. ✨

We’re a little behind on posting, so today is our make-up day and we’re excited to finally share some well-deserved recognition! 💙

Our first post is dedicated to the PHMS Counseling Department’s FIRST EVER student aides! 🎉

These two incredible young women helped us tremendously during first semester, always showing patience, understanding, empathy, and grace in everything they did. Their contributions did not go unnoticed and they truly made a difference in our daily work and in the lives of others.

From sending passes, cleaning out our (very messy!) fridge, making copies, assisting other students when needed, maintaining confidentiality, and even vacuuming our offices, they did it all with positive attitudes and willingness to help wherever needed.

We are so grateful for their hard work, dedication, and kind hearts. 💛

The photos show a few special moments together: their “Boo Baskets” before Halloween 👻 and a well earned lunch at Olive Garden to celebrate all of their hard work. 🍝

Thank you to both of these girls for being such an important part of our team. You will always be remembered as our very first student aides! 💫

We are so thankful for our supportive staff and admin at PHMS that allow our counseling program to be what it is!! We truly couldn’t do it without them!

National School Counseling Week is here and it’s the perfect time to clear something up:

School counselors are not just for “difficult behavior.” We are not only for “college-bound kids. We are not just the schedule changers, test coordinators, or crisis-only people.

We support:

✨ Every student
✨ Every background
✨ Every identity
✨ Every learner
✨ Every story

We teach coping skills, friendship skills, problem solving, emotional regulation, and confidence. We help kids navigate grief, anxiety, big feelings, family changes, and everyday growing up. We celebrate strengths, advocate for needs, and create spaces where students feel seen and safe.

School counseling is prevention, skill-building, and connection. It is mental health support. It is equity work. It is student advocacy.

This week, help us spread the word about what school counselors really do and why every school needs strong counseling programs.

Here for them all. Always. 🩷

We are SO EXCITED to introduce our new counselor Mrs. Sotelo!!! She will be working with all students with the last names starting with A-L. Mrs. Sotelo is already doing big things here at PHMS and we are very lucky to have her!

The mentor program at PHMS always makes our counselor hearts so happy. Watching kids be leaders is incredible!

This year these amazing mentors have dedicated a lot of their time to help guide their 6th grade buddy through the ups and downs of middle school! The mentors take on a lot of responsibilities throughout the school year including:
-training
-weekly meetings
-a service project
-monthly lunches with their mentees
-keeping track of their mentees schedules & walking them to class
-assisting their mentee with homework
- and more

After a full school year of helping their mentees with all things middle school, the mentors were celebrated today with pizza, pop, uno, and letters from their mentees!!

These letters show you just how much of a difference our mentors make! ❤️
