Kansas families with school-aged children will receive a one-time benefit of $120 per child as part of the Supplemental Pandemic Electronic Benefit (P-EBT) program.

Supplemental P-EBT is designed to benefit school-aged children who received free or reduced-price school meals through the National School Lunch Program during the 2022-23 school year. Due to the complexity of gathering the data, the benefit is for the summer months of June, July, and August of 2023.

The benefit distribution will be auto-issued through a direct certification process. Parents and guardians who believe their children are eligible, but do not receive a benefit in January may request the Supplemental benefit using the DCF Self-Service Portal Feb. 1-29, 2024.

Last week our nutrition team at Hutchinson High School powered up for National School Lunch Week. The week highlights the importance of a healthy school lunch to a student's success both in and out of the classroom.

Meal pick up schedule change due to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Parents and or students will pick up FREE meals at their school.

Students are encouraged to pick up meals at their enrolled school. If your family has middle school students in addition to an elementary student, you can pick up all your meals at the elementary school.

Students will receive breakfast & lunch for 3 or 5 days depending on how many days they are attending school in-person each week.

Parents can have a representative pick up meals for them if they are unable to. Older students are also able to pick up meals.

Meal Service pick up times are listed below. If this time does not work for you please make other arrangements with your child’s school.

· Students who are on remote learning for the full year will continue to pick up meals on Wednesdays. This week it will be Wednesday, January 20, with no pre-registration required. You can pick up at either HHS in the Circle Drive in front of the school from 10am-10:30am OR HMS-7 in the alley between HMS-7 and First Presbyterian Church. Enter the alley off Poplar from 12:00pm-12:30pm

Because of a recent U.S. Department of Agriculture order, all students enrolled in USD 308 who eat breakfast or lunch in district schools will not be charged through Dec. 31.

Families who normally would pay the full rate or the reduce rate for meals will not be charged during this time. All meal charges prior to Sept. 3 will still apply. Additionally, students will have to pay for ala-carte items.

District families still need to fill out the free/reduced application because meals after Dec 31 will be charged according to their student meal status. The free/reduced application also is needed on file for families to qualify for free or reduced-price textbook fees. This application helps our district receive additional state funding needed to provide resources for our students.

All good things end at some point. Our spring/summer meals will end on Friday of this week. Regular school meals will return on Aug. 27.
