It was another exciting day yesterday as we were able to nominate two teachers for the Kansas Horizon Award! This award recognizes 2nd year teachers who distinguished themselves during their first year of teaching.

Our nominees are:
Elementary: Ms. Emily Montandon: 4th grade at Union Valley (Plum Creek during her first year)

Secondary: Ms. Mattison Perkins: 7th grade math at Prairie Hills

Join us in congratulating these nominees and we wish them luck as they submit their applications!

We are proud to congratulate Buhler USD 313 Principals, Abby Thompson and Kurt Geilenfeldt , on being selected to participate in the Kansas Association of School Boards (KASB) Business Operations Leadership Development (BOLD) Class of 2027.

The BOLD program gives school leaders the opportunity to learn more about the many areas that go into effectively operating a school district, including facilities, technology, finance, purchasing, security, risk management, and human resources.

Mrs. Thompson, PHMS principal, and Mr. Geilenfeldt, BGS principal, will take part in seven training sessions with 23 school leaders and education professionals from across Kansas. We are excited for these two exceptional leaders to have this opportunity to learn, connect with other leaders, and bring new ideas back to Buhler Schools and our community.

Ad Astra Academies State Fair Field Trip Information

Our field trip to the state fair will be on Tuesday, September 15. Here are the key details:

Students must bring a lunch and a water bottle. We will not be going to the food court, so they should not count on buying food from vendors.

Students must stay with the Ad Astra group during our field trip. Parents are welcome to meet us at the fairgrounds at 8:50 and attend the field trip with us, but students must stay with the group to be counted present for the day.

We will NOT be going to the carnival/Midway during our field trip. Students are welcome to return on their own after school on Tuesday to enjoy the carnival without having to pay admission, since they will be able to re-enter the fair later in the day.

They are welcome to bring some money, but they will need to stay with the group so options for spending the money will be limited.

We will leave the fair at about 1:00 and return to school for some academic work time. Parents can check their student out at the end of the field trip, but otherwise alternative students will come back to the building.

Alternative students need to bring their computers to school with them on Tuesday, because we expect to work on classes after we return from the fair.
