Chapter 3 opens with Paul continuing to exhort the Colossians to refrain from sinful living because these specific sins impact and injure relationships. The exhortation is founded upon the truth that the Colossians were no longer unbelievers living in the flesh; rather, they were new in Christ. Thus, their conduct should match their new position. Paul then shifts to what their lives should look like as believers. He highlights the fruit of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, and writes that they should bear with, forgive, and love each other. Additionally, he exhorts them to “let the peace of Christ rule in” their “hearts,” be thankful, and “let the word of Christ richly dwell” in them. [Lesson Taught at Tyndale Bible Church on 08/02/26]
