Hello, Hurricane Town families. We wanted to send out information that is specifically geared to those that are new to Hurricane Town. First, morning drop off begins at 7:35. School starts at 7:50, and school dismisses at 2:50 p.m. For morning drop off, please pull into a center parking space on the right side of the crosswalk closest to Market Street. The spaces closest to the road will be reserved for pre-K parents. Stay in your parking spot until cars are directed to line up by staff at 7:35. Please pull forward as far as possible as you are directed to drive around the back loop. Please be working with your child to unbuckle themselves once the car is stopped and in park. Regarding pickups, we ask that previous families hang your car tag on your rearview mirror. Families new to Hurricane Town will receive a car tag after the first day of school. Please park in a parking space to allow for buses to pull on the lot. Staff will direct you to the back loop. When you pull in the back lot, stay in your vehicle and your child will be loaded into your vehicle by a staff member. For lunch, students do have 30 minutes to eat their lunch. We are more than happy to open ketchup, open milk, grab an extra napkin. However, students are expected to eat and feed themselves independently, so please work together so everyone can master those skills. All meals are free for students at Hurricane Town this year. If your student packs a lunch, they are allowed to also get a hot lunch. Do not be alarmed if your child brings home a full lunch box. Likely they were trying new foods or were just too excited to eat that first week. Finally, please make sure to take pictures before leaving home on the first day. We do not allow parents to park and walk their students in on the first day. We simply do not have a parking to allow for this, and it is a safety concern with people walking across the lot with cars and buses constantly pulling in.
