🚌 There will not be an afternoon bus for kindergarten today.

🚀 Grades 1–5 will attend a full day of school today.

Please help us welcome Sr. Fox Barrett to Hurricane Elementary! Sr. Barrett will be joining our team as our 2nd Grade Spanish DLI Teacher.

Sr. Barrett brings experience working as a paraeducator and is excited to begin this new adventure in the classroom. His mission this year is to help his students fall in love with the amazing language of Spanish and enjoy learning and growing together.

Outside of school, Sr. Barrett loves traveling, reading, and writing. His love of language and literature even led him to earn a master’s degree in Spanish and Latin American Literature in Spain.

A fun fact about Sr. Barrett is that he is a big concert fan and a proud Swiftie—he even traveled to Spain for the Eras Tour!

Please help us welcome Mrs. Erin Leilua to Hurricane Elementary! Mrs. Leilua will be joining our team as a Mild/Moderate Special Education Teacher.

This will be her eighth year teaching and her seventh year in special education. She began her career teaching third grade at Enterprise Elementary before serving students in both the elementary and middle schools in Enterprise. For the past two years, she has worked as a Special Education Teacher at Red Mountain Elementary. Mrs. Leilua earned both her Elementary Education and Special Education teaching licenses from Southern Utah University.

Outside of school, Mrs. Leilua enjoys reading cozy mysteries, crocheting, and spending time with her husband and three children. Her family loves fishing, camping, and spending time at the beach.

She is excited to get to know her students and their families, as well as the faculty and staff at Hurricane Elementary.

Please help us welcome Mrs. Rachel Grimm to Hurricane Elementary! Mrs. Grimm will be joining our team as our music teacher.

Music has been an important part of Mrs. Grimm’s life for as long as she can remember. Her mom often jokes that ABBA’s “Thank You for the Music” must have been written about her because she has always loved to sing. She is excited to share her passion for music with our students and help them discover the joy of creating music together.

Outside of school, Mrs. Grimm enjoys weightlifting, cross-stitching, musical theatre, and spending time with her four children and their dog.

She cannot wait to meet all of our amazing Cougars and begin making music with them!

Mrs. Kuhn brings 17 years of experience in education to our school. Her mission this year is to get to know each of her students, understand their individual needs, and help them learn, grow, and succeed.

Outside of school, Mrs. Kuhn enjoys crocheting and cross-stitching. A fun fact about her is that she met her husband on a blind date!

Please help us welcome Mrs. Tabitha Ramsay to Hurricane Elementary! Mrs. Ramsay will be joining our team as a 4th grade teacher.

This will be her seventh year in education. She has worked as a substitute teacher, a physical education paraeducator, and a fourth-grade teacher. Although this is her first year teaching at Hurricane Elementary, it is not her first time working at our school—and she is especially happy to return to a place where all three of her children attended.

Mrs. Ramsay is excited to reconnect with old friends, meet new families, and get to know each of her students. Her biggest mission this year is to give her students the very best year possible while celebrating how much everyone—including herself—will learn and grow.

Outside of school, Mrs. Ramsay enjoys hiking, reading, sewing, baking, paddleboarding, traveling, and many other hobbies. A fun fact about her is that she lived in Quito, Ecuador, until she was three years old!

Please help us welcome Mrs. Candace Hafen to Hurricane Elementary! Mrs. Hafen will be joining our team as a 4th grade teacher.

Mrs. Hafen has been in education for nearly 10 years, working with students from preschool through 7th grade, as well as in private tutoring. She is excited to be at Hurricane Elementary and is especially looking forward to exploring all about our beautiful state of Utah with her amazing 4th graders this year.

Outside of school, Mrs. Hafen loves creative projects and enjoys everything from digital design to hands-on creating. Lately, she has especially enjoyed floral design and sketching flowers. She also once ran a small online holiday shop and was invited multiple times to appear as a featured guest on KSL’s Studio 5 to share holiday ideas.

Mrs. Hafen loves spending time with her family, traveling, listening to a good audiobook or podcast, decorating, and finding ways to keep learning and growing as an educator. She is grateful to be back in the classroom doing what she loves most—teaching kids!
