Beyond being a school where students are actively encouraged to become part of the learning process, over the years, the faculty of BGSU Firelands have made many valuable contributions to the arts and academia. Frank and Jann Glann, Associate Professors of Theater, whose many theater productions at BGSU Firelands McBride Theater and the BGSU Huron Summer Playhouse, made BGSU Firelands, a special p

lace for theatre. In addition to bringing in such notable professionals as three time Pulitzer winning Playwright Edward Albee as Artist in Residence at BGSU Firelands, they brought their passion and enthusiasm for theatre to the Firelands community. Jann Glann retired in 2012, but remains quite active in the theatre and Huron community. In the fall of 2012, Grechen Wingerter joined the BGSU Firelands faculty as Instructor of Theatre. She was a great influence to many students and the community. David Gilmore has been with the theatre since beginning as a student in 1986. He has been an Instructor in tech theatre for 15 years. Gilmore also taught Acting and Childrens Theatre Set Design in his earlier years.

-Dr. Ronald Ruble, Associate Professor of Theater, whose work with the Caryl Crane Children's Theater at BGSU Firelands has created opportunities for children to experience theater at an early age. Although now retired, his legacy is continued by Artistic Director Brian Marshall, who continues to further the enrichment of the lives of youth.

Last Day to apply for a BGSU Firelands Scholarship is February 15. There are two theatre scholarships and over $150,000 in money to give away!

To fill out the scholarship application:

Go to your MyBGSU

Click on the “Financials” tab on the left hand of your homepage

Click on the “Scholarship Opportunities” icon

Complete the General Application

After completing the General Application you will be prompted to complete a Firelands College Conditional Application. Don’t forget to fill this one out too!
