The **2026–2027 school year starts tomorrow!**

We are excited to welcome our **6th grade Owls on Monday, August 24**, followed by our **7th and 8th grade students on Tuesday, August 25**!

Arrival begins at **7:25 AM**, and the **tardy bell rings at 7:40 AM**. Please plan ahead, especially during the first few days of school, and make sure students arrive on time and ready to learn.

Our shirts this year say it all — and capture a message Mr. Evans reminds us of often:

“Where there’s a problem, there’s a solution!” — Mr. Evans

That’s the mindset we’re carrying into this school year. Challenges will come, but we’ll work together, find solutions, and keep moving forward for our scholars.

Thank you so much to all of our families who came out to Open House tonight! It was great seeing so many returning faces, meeting new ones, and seeing all the smiles and throughout our hallways!

A special shout out to our incredible staff as well! They have spent all week engaged in professional development and learning together, and today they had just a few short hours to get their classrooms and spaces ready to welcome our community. We are grateful for the time, energy, and care they continue to put into making NDMS a great place for our scholars!

We can’t wait to welcome everyone back!

Our teachers and staff have been hard at work preparing for a successful 2026–2027 school year!

Yesterday, our team participated in school-based professional development, reviewing last year’s data, celebrating our progress, and focusing on where we’re headed this year. Today, our staff joined colleagues at CSD for a PLC Summit, working together and learning how we can continue to achieve gains for our students. Tomorrow, our teachers head to Mace’s Lane Middle School for curriculum and content-specific professional learning.

It’s been a great few days of learning, collaboration, and preparation—and now we’re ready to see our students and families!

We look forward to welcoming everyone to Open House this Thursday from 2:00–4:00 PM.

👕 Back-to-School Reminder: NDMS Dress Code 2026–2027

As families prepare for the new school year, we want to share a quick reminder about the NDMS Dress Code for 2026–2027.

A few key reminders:

-Shirts must have straps/sleeves at least 2 inches wide
-Bottoms and rips/tears must extend past fingertip length
-Undergarments should not be visible
-Shoes must be worn at all times — slippers are not permitted
-Pajamas are not permitted; sweatpants are acceptable
-Headgear is not permitted, and hoods must remain down inside the building
-Clothing and accessories must also meet school expectations for appropriate language, imagery, safety, and content

Students who arrive out of dress code will be asked to contact home for a change of clothing, and repeated violations will result in progressive consequences.

As you take advantage of Tax-Free Week and finish up back-to-school shopping, please keep these expectations in mind so every Owl is ready for a successful first day!
