Sam Houston University's College of Health Sciences strives to prepare its students to succeed in their chosen health profession through mastery of the appropriate knowledge and skills, a well-developed sense of professionalism, and a strong commitment to promoting health and providing quality care. Officially established on September 1, 2013, the College of Health Sciences (COHS) was created in response to the rapidly growing need in Texas (and the nation) for more qualified health professionals and surging student interest for degree programs in the health sciences. First Lab Day, first steps toward an incredible future!

Our inaugural cohort of Master of Physician Assistant Studies students officially stepped into the lab for their very first Lab Day! From classroom learning to hands-on practice, our future PAs are beginning their journey toward becoming compassionate, knowledgeable, and skilled healthcare professionals. 🩻🩺💙

The ARC-PA has granted Accreditation-Provisional status to the Sam Houston State University, Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program sponsored by Sam Houston State University. Accreditation-Provisional is an accreditation status granted when the plans and resource allocation, if fully implemented as planned, of a proposed program that has not yet enrolled students appear to demonstrate the program’s ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards or when a program holding Accreditation Provisional status appears to demonstrate continued progress in complying with the Standards as it prepares for the graduation of the first class (cohort) of Students. Accreditation-Provisional does not ensure any subsequent accreditation status. It is limited to no more than five years from matriculation of the first class. The program’s accreditation history can be viewed on the ARC-PA website at https://www.arc-pa.org/accreditation-history-sam-houston-state-university/.
