Happy Reformation Day!
It is Halloween, but it's also "Reformation Day." On October 31, 1517, German monk and theologian Martin Luther nailed his Ninety-Five Theses to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany.
The advent of the printing press helped spread Luther's ideas across Europe, sparking a major movement that redefined the Christian faith and practice.
Some of the long-term effects include:
-Increased access to the Bible in common languages.
-Greater biblical literacy among laypeople - and greater literacy for people at large whether in church or not.
-The translation of church services from Latin into the vernacular (common language).

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Homeschool Alabama (HA) Monitoring Reports of “Missing” Students
[Huntsville, AL] — [10/27/2025] — Homeschool Alabama (HA) along with the Home School Legal Defense Association are closely monitoring recent news reports about students leaving Alabama’s public school system. HA’s mission is to keep home educators informed of developments in homeschooling and to provide families with accurate information on state education policy and compliance.
Alabama State Superintendent Dr. Eric Mackey recently reported that approximately 5,000 students have exited public schools. This follows a similar situation in 2020, when roughly 5,000 students were described as “just missing” after COVID-19 disruptions.
According to Dr. Mackey, about 3,000 students are now accounted for through the CHOOSE Act program, leaving approximately 2,800 students unaccounted for. Many of these students may be homeschooling but have not completed proper enrollment as required by Alabama law.
In response, Homeschool Alabama urges all homeschooling families to ensure their enrollment documentation is current in accordance with state requirements. Proper reporting helps families maintain legal compliance while protecting their freedom in homeschooling.

This is a current state law. If you want more information about homeschooling, feel free to reach out to our office 256-513-9212. You have an Alabama Constitutional right to choose the form of education for your children. You CAN do this!
Code of Alabama 16-1-11.1
"The Legislature finds and declares all of the following:
(1) That a parent or guardian in Alabama has a constitutional right to choose the type of K-12 education that is best for his or her child, whether public or nonpublic, religious or nonreligious, and including home-based education."
