It has been a very special week for students at SG Voice Studio! This weekend, three students participated in the inaugural Her Art in Song festival at UAH! This festival was inspiring in its goal to highlight the often lost and forgotten female composers and their contributions to the art song genre.

Part of the festival included a competition aspect, where students brought these composers and their music to life. A special congratulations to Hadley Blackledge for placing 1st in the middle school division, and Emily Steverson for placing 1st in the high school division!

This event was especially meaningful for me, as the director of the festival, Dr. Maya Osuga, was my own college voice instructor. It was very much a full-circle moment to see my students learning in an environment that was so critical to my own singing journey.

We can’t wait to sing in the salon again!!

Congratulations to SG Voice Studio student Noah Schafer for receiving the role of Count Ipolitov in College Street Player’s production of Anastasia! If you aren’t familiar with this musical, Count Ipolitov has a stunning solo in the song Stay, I Pray You.

We are so excited to share that Sheridan Greer Voice Studio LLC is teaching a music theory class for adults at The Studio!

This 18+ Introduction to Music Theory class meets for the whole month of February, with a relaxed 1-hour session each Monday from 7pm-8pm. You’ll learn the basics: notation, rhythm, melody, harmony, and more! No prior experience required! All materials will be provided for you, but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
