The Roxie Douglas Learning Institute & Scholarship Foundation had an amazing time at the All About Kids Expo presented by CASA! 🎉

We were excited to connect with our community—sharing information about our programs and distributing chips and flyers to over 100 children and parents throughout the day. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth to learn more about what we do!

At the Roxie Douglas Learning Institute, our mission is to support students from Kindergarten through 12th grade, preparing them for success in school and beyond. Our goal is not only to strengthen academic foundations, but to ultimately award scholarships that help our students continue their journey to college. 🎓

Beginning this fall, we’re excited to expand our programming to Monday–Friday after-school sessions, where students will receive support with:
• Homework assistance
• Reading comprehension
• Math concepts
• STAAR test preparation

Students in grades 3rd–12th will also have access to individual computers to help them practice and prepare for online and written STAAR testing, ensuring they are fully equipped for success.

Thank you for supporting our 2026 Fashion Show and helping us continue our mission of impacting lives through education.

Special thanks to Clarence Shaw of Deez Boutique for providing the clothing that was modeled on last night, Marilyn Olajuwan for training our models to be runway ready, Pastor and Lady Demarcus & Tammera Howard for being our hosts and carrying us through the evening, and to all of our amazing models models for all of their hard work and dedication to making this event a success!

Phase I is complete at the Roxie Douglas Learning Institute! We are so excited that we are moving forward! The goal is to have 5+ classrooms and eventually add a auditorium attached to the house that will hold at least 200 people. There will be a Gym area with exercise machines and exercise classes. Rooms will also be available for community meetings. I have met with the City on several occasions and the auditorium can be 30x50 sq. ft. We have excellent carpenters! All is needed is the money for materials and labor. We will be having several Fundraisers to raise money to complete this project. These two Beautiful children were in our class in the Spring. Now they are Angels in God's Kingdom. There will be a Fundraiser for them Friday, September 12th, at Samuel Walker Houston Museum and Cultural Center, 1604 10th St., 10am. Please come out and support this Fundraiser. God Bless you!
