One of the coolest things I read in the infamous 🌻 Sunflower book (Multisensory Teaching of Basic Language Skills) was this quote about effective instruction changing the brain: “Shaywitz and colleagues found that the intensive, phonologically based intervention made ‘significant and durable changes in brain organization so that brain activation patterns resembled those of typical readers’” 🧠

If Queen Sally says we can reroute neural circuits? I’m gonna try!

Back at it bright and early! Let me tell you something about the dyslexic brain - it may not be wired to read easily, but it IS wired for amazing things. So I am starting the school year HYPING UP his strengths: resilience, empathy, emotional intelligence, big picture thinking, and problem solving to name a few.

If you support a dyslexic student celebrate their gifts today because they are innately bright and working really hard! Every session won’t be perfect, believe me, but I will do my best to keep this sparkle in his eyes and that spirit UP! ✨
