As we quickly approach the summer break, we want to take a moment to discuss a seemingly inevitable issue for educators everywhere - the “summer slide.” During the summer break, studies show that students lose an average of about 20% of school-year gains in reading and 27% of school-year gains in math, and students from low-income families are at the highest for learning loss.

However, we are dedicated to enhancing student achievement and preventing learning loss with our extended learning programs. Studies have found that students attending A-Labs programs have an overall average of 20.4% growth differential when compared to non-participating students, stopping the seemingly inevitable summer slide in its tracks.

Learning loss has affected students’ academic success for years. Many school district leaders are interested in implementing extended learning programs in their schools; however, operating these programs can be a hassle that many school districts lack the resources to take on.

Afterschool Labs (A-Labs) reduces the administrative burden of extended learning programs with its turnkey program management. Great news for Morris Slingluff Elementary School parents! AfterSchool Labs will be back to provide your after-school care for the upcoming school year. That means more FUN, more LEARNING and more CONVENIENCE for you!

AfterSchool Labs has awesome news for Dothan City Schools!

First, we will be running after-school care programs at two more schools this year. So, welcome Beverlye Intermediate School for the Arts and Hidden Lake Primary School parents to AfterSchool labs! We look forward to meeting your kiddos!

Second, we cannot wait to release our brand new ‘Propulsion’ units designed to help your kids reading skills blast off! And our team has been busy developing even more top-notch ways to make learning fun that we are eager to share!

Last, but certainly not the least …we expect to add tuition subsidies to this year’s programs. What does that mean? It means qualifying students will be able to attend A-Labs at a reduced cost or even free of charge! We are really excited about that.
