Rise and shine, Mustangs! We’ve got some exciting plans this weekend, and want you to join us.

In just 3 days, we’ll be hitting the pavement at Oakwood University for the OABA 5K, and we are looking for some company at the starting line!

Full transparency, the real reason we’re running: Imagine walking into a brand-new school, the hallways feel foreign, the work is harder, and you feel that you’re navigating it all without a map. We’ve all been there.

Mrs. Garnett, VP for OAA and the founder of Bridge Academy started this program because she lived that experience. She knows exactly how it feels to walk into a new chapter without a guide. As such, she’s made it her mission to ensure our rising 7th and 9th graders never have to.

This race is the “guide.” Because OABA is a self-funded initiative, every single registration fee goes directly toward giving these students the academic tools, spiritual foundation, and community support they need to thrive. We aren’t just running a 5K; we are funding the mentorship that changes a student’s entire trajectory.

The African Ball was a complete success! We awarded all 8 teachers with an Impact Grant to fund their submitted projects. This fundraiser will help achieve a Marine Health Lab, Network Gateway Upgrade, a Literacy Lab, and more!

It was a night of excellence from the room decor to the performances. Well done to everyone involved and thank you to all those who supported OAA HandS with this event!
