This ministry offers high quality musical, dance and visual arts lessons with the vision of using these gifts for the Glory of God. We offer lessons from caring and gifted teachers at an affordable price starting at age 3. We have a mobile teaching unit that reaches out to those in the community who might not have transportation.

Meet our April Student of the Month!
Eliana Harris is our April Student of the Month. Eliana is the daughter of Carla and Thomas Harris. She is an 11th grade student at Oakwood Adventist Academy. Eliana has been part of our Hawthorne family as a piano student of Cecily Moody for the past 1.5 years. Her favorite composer is Chopin and her favorite composition learned with Mrs. Moody is Toccata by Aran Khachaturian.
Cecily says “Eliana is a very gifted student. She is always prepared and her work ethic is outstanding. Eliana feels the music and plays with beautiful expression. It is a privilege to teach her.” Eliana recently shared her gift with Central Presbyterian Church by playing for the offertory during a Sunday Morning Worship Service.

Congratulations to our March Student of the Month, Maren Wall.
Maren Wall is a 10th grade student at Grissom High School who has been studying violin with Renee Dover at Hawthorne for 3 years. She began violin lessons at the age of 7. Maren has been in the Huntsville Youth Orchestras for 4 years and currently plays violin with the Philharmonia Orchestra. In addition to classical music, she appreciates
contemporary alternative musical styles. Maren is currently a member of the Grissom High School Concert Choir. She also enjoys taking classes at The Vessel Art Studio where she is learning the art of pottery. Her long-term goal is to become a Genetics Counselor, specializing in designing treatments for pre-disposed genetic disorders.
Maren is a very talented young woman who is always eager to grow in her knowledge and form in music. Her disciplined nature, eagerness to learn and willingness to apply criticism will shape her future positively in any field of her endeavor. Ms. Dover says that she is proud to be the teacher of such a positive learner!

February Student of the Month
Hannah McCandless
Hannah McCandless is the daughter of Joe and Rebecca McCandless. Hannah is one of our graduating seniors. She is a multi-talented and gifted student. Hannah has been a ballet student of Linda Soule for the past four years as well as she is a violinist and has taken lessons at Hawthorne Conservatory from Renee Dover and Anna Linzey.
Linda Soule says that “Hannah is a wonderful ballet student. She has natural ability and talent for dance. Hannah is quick to learn choreography.”
Her present violin teacher, Anna Linzey, says that “Hannah is a beautiful personality and a delightful student to work with. She invests herself in her learning process and is eager to develop her understanding in violin. Hannah feels music deeply and it shows in the way she plays.”

Meet our January Student of the Month!
Ethan Dickens is our January Student of The Month. Ethan is the son of Jeanne and Vince Dickens. He is a freshman at Grissom High School in Huntsville, Alabama. He has been a long time guitar and piano student at Hawthorne Conservatory. Ethan’s favorite composer is Franz Liszt and his favorite guitar composition learned with Gabe Larose is Invention No. 13.
Gabe Larose says that “Ethan has progressed quickly within the past year expanding his knowledge of many guitar styles. He has become accomplished at strumming chords, playing rapid single notes pieces, harmony riffs, and even fingerstyle. We are adding some classical fingerstyle technique, especially with the Christmas repertoire.”

December Student of the Month
Samuel Chambers
Samuel Chambers is our December Student of the Month. Samuel is the son of Audley and Hannah Chambers. He is a ninth grader at Westminster Christian Academy. Samuel has studied classical piano with Cecily Moody for the past 6 years. His favorite composer is Rachmaninoff and his favorite composition learned is Pathetique Sonata by Beethoven.
Samuel is a very gifted student. He is passionate about his music and this is evident in his performances. Samuel plays with beautiful expression and feeling. He works hard and is always prepared. Samuel is a joy to teach. He is one of the most talented young men to grace the doors of Hawthorne Conservatory.

Congratulate our November Student of the Month, Corin Zemaitis!
Corin Zemaitis is our November Student of the Month. Corin is the daughter of Laura and Jason Zemaitis. She is in the 4th grade and attends Faith Covenant Academy. Corin has been a voice student of Sara McFaddin for the past three years. Her favorite composer is Josiah Queen and her favorite song learned with her teacher is Sleigh Ride.
Sara says that “Corin is an enthusiastic and dedicated student. She comes to every lesson cheerful and ready to learn. She loves singing a variety of music and enjoys exploring different styles and challenges. It has been so wonderful to witness her confidence and beautiful voice grow in the past few years.”

Meet Our October Student of the Month Robert Vasile!
Robert Vasile is our October Student of the Month. Robert is the son of Anne and Victor Vasile. He is in the 6th grade at Holy Spirit Catholic School. Robert has been a piano student of Robert Lubin for the past four years. His favorite composer is W.A. Mozart and his favorite piano piece learned is Stealth Mode.
Mr. Lubin says that “Robert is an inquisitive young student who enjoys the piano and likes to explore all the tonal possibilities of the instrument. I appreciate that Robert always comes to his lesson prepared and eager to learn. He has made great progress in the past year and I look forward to this year being the best yet.”

Meet Our May Student of the Month, Calvin Rosema!
Calvin Rosema is our May Student of the Month. Calvin is the son of Jacky Rosema. He is a 6th grade student at Providence Classical School. Calvin is a piano student of Amanda Weiland and his favorite composition learned is Dark Chocolate Truffle by Wynn-Anne Rossi.
Amanda says “Calvin is an excellent student with a growth mindset. He utilizes feedback well and plays with artistry. I am impressed with his musicality and attention to detail.”
Calvin Rosema participated in the ACEA regional auditions in March and won first place in Sacred piano solo and second place in Classical piano solo. Congratulations Calvin!

Livy Haynie is our April Student of the Month!
Livy is the daughter of Beth Jarom Haynie. She is in the 8th grade at Huntsville Junior School. Livy has been a student at Hawthorne Conservatory for seven years and four of those years she has been a piano student of Sara McFaddin. Her favorite piece learned with Ms. McFaddin is Bad Way to Start the Day by Kevin Olson and her favorite composer is Melody Bober.
Ms. McFaddin says “I always look forward to Livy’s lessons. She is dedicated, enthusiastic, and has made so much progress over the years.”
