It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sister Jean Marie Hauck, SDS. She passed peacefully in the company of her fellow Sisters on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, at the age of 94.

Sister Jean Marie Hauck, SDS (Helena Hauck), was born on the prairie near Aberdeen, South Dakota to Adam and Anna Hauck. Inspired by her faith and love of learning, she entered the Sisters of the Divine Savior on August 18, 1948, professing final vows in 1956. A dedicated teacher for 46 years, she served in schools across Wisconsin, Alabama, Minnesota, and Maryland. Her joy in gardening, art, and caring for others reflected her deep gratitude for God’s creation. Sister Jean Marie was preceded in death by her family and is lovingly remembered by her Salvatorian Sisters and many relatives.

Viewing will be at 1:15 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 1:45 p.m. Monday, April 13, at St. Anne’s Salvatorian Campus Chapel, 3800 N. 92nd St., Milwaukee. Memorials appreciated to the Sisters of the Divine Savior, 4311 N. 100th St., Milwaukee, WI 53222.

Families who wish to use CHOOSE Act Education Savings Account (ESA) funds for the upcoming school year must submit their application by March 31.

This deadline applies to both:

• Renewal applications for current ESA recipients

• New applications for families applying for the first time

Important reminders:

• Applications must be submitted through the state CHOOSE Act portal https://classwallet.com/alchoose/

• Families should select their participating Catholic school during the application process

• Have your supporting documentation ready to upload

• Schools may also offer additional financial aid or scholarships through the Alabama Accountability Act, so families are encouraged to speak with their school office

The CHOOSE Act is helping more families access the gift of Catholic education across Alabama.

If your family plans to participate next year, be sure to submit your application before March 31.
