🏕️ 30 SLEEPING BAGS. $20 EACH. CAN YOU HELP?

Our upper school learners were supposed to tent camp during Summer Camp, but the rain had other plans. 🌧️ We’ve rescheduled for October, and thanks to a fantastic grant from Torch Technologies, we’re full steam ahead!

Just ONE essential expense remains: sleeping bags.

💚 30 kids. 30 sleeping bags. $20 each.

And since today is International Day of Charity, we thought this was the perfect day to ask our community to help us get all 30 covered.

$20 buys one. $40 buys two. $100 buys five. And $600 covers them ALL!

We LOVE seeing our former HLC kiddos out in the wild! 💚 And this one made us especially happy…

This is Arianna Allen, the very first recipient of the Art Leslie Scholarship! 🌳 Arianna graduated from Jacksonville State University this year—and she’s not finished yet! She’ll begin working toward her master’s in Social Work in January.

We’re so proud of Arianna and love watching our HLC kiddos grow up, go out into the world, and use their gifts to serve others.

And we’re looking forward to awarding this year’s Art Leslie Scholarships at our annual fundraiser dinner on October 22! 💚

Tiny dancers, big dreams. 🩰✨

Each year, our Family Development Coordinator, Ms. Susan Callaway, takes our young ballerinas to Bloom dancewear, where each child is fitted with a leotard, tights, and the ballet shoes they need to shine.

Then, week after week, they get to learn, grow and build confidence through classes with Hawthorne Conservatory.

We’re so grateful for the wonderful partners who help make these experiences possible for our students—body, mind and spirit. 💕🩰

In August, it all came together for Cyan: a smiley face EVERY SINGLE DAY for good behavior! 😊👏

📚 A member of the HLC family is a published children’s book author! 🦊💚

We were so excited and grateful that Alandus Rice, author of Fitz: The Fox That Knew Too Much, carved out time this week to read with our youngest learners—and each child received their very own copy to take home and practice reading! 📖✨

And the connections make it even sweeter: Mr. Rice is the grandfather of students Nire and Nala and the father of Jasmine Rice, an Art Leslie Scholarship recipient. Three generations of one family woven into the HLC learning journey. 💚

What’s a "bridge meal" at HLC? 🍎

It’s a simple afternoon snack designed to bridge the gap between school lunch and evening dinner—because hungry bellies have a hard time focusing, learning, and fully engaging after a long school day.

Right now, we have only eight bridge meal providers scheduled for each month, and we need more!

Would you consider providing an afternoon snack for our students? It’s a simple, practical way to care for a child and help remove hunger as a barrier to learning.

Thanks to YOU, our Bonefish Grill Give Back Night generated $5,878.98 in sales—which means $881.85 is coming right back to the kiddos of Huntsville Learning Center! 🙌
We are so grateful to everyone who came out, brought friends, shared a meal, had some fun, and chose to make your dinner make a difference.
And a HUGE thank you to our friends at Bonefish Grill for generously donating 15% of the evening’s participating sales to HLC. What a fun and meaningful way to rally around our students!
