Our GATE students had an incredible time at this year’s Emerging Innovators Service Learning Summit! The day was filled with fun, creativity, and meaningful learning experiences. Students enjoyed engaging breakout sessions with Nutty Scientists, Power of EDU, and Mathnasium, along with outstanding student presentations that showcased their innovation, teamwork, and leadership. We are so proud of all they accomplished!

Field Day 2026 was a major success! ☀️🫧

From the water slide and water games to tug of war, Kona Ice, concessions, and of course the dunk tank where Dr. Headen got dunked, it was a day full of fun, laughter, and memories!

Thank you to all of our incredible volunteers who helped make the day run so smoothly. And a huge thank you to Katrina and Teresa Wilson for keeping our teachers fed throughout the day!

We appreciate everyone who helped make Field Day such a special event for our students and staff! 💙

Our Highlands GATE Hawks are truly emerging innovators! ♻️💙

Through their “Recycling Tabs for Time” service learning project, students at Highlands Elementary collected 14 gallons of canned tabs and inspired every other Huntsville elementary school to join the campaign. Together, our schools collected an incredible 273 pounds of tabs!

These donations will benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities, helping support families of children receiving treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Collectively, the tabs donated will provide approximately four nights for families to stay close to their child during treatment.

We are so proud of our students for leading with kindness, service, and innovation to make a difference in the lives of others! 🦅✨

And a huge thank you to Mrs. Green for all she does for our GATE students and for helping make projects like this possible! 💙

As a reminder, school is still in session until May 21st, and student behavior expectations remain in place through the last day of school. Please speak with your child about following school rules, showing respect, and making good choices while on campus.

Students who choose not to follow expectations may face disciplinary consequences, and parents may be contacted to pick them up if necessary.

K-2 students will attend Field Day from 9:00–11:00 AM, and 3rd-6th grade students will attend from 11:30 AM–1:30 PM.

Students are welcome to bring cash for concessions and Kona Ice! 🍧 We are also asking for water bottle donations!
