Football Friday Night in New Waverly, Texas! Where the Bulldogs of New Waverly took on the Trinity Tigers. On the sidelines is 1st year MSAT student Marlen Sandoval under the guidance of preceptor Erica Williams. This is yet another great clinical education site for the SHSU MSAT program. The opportunity for clinical learning in various secondary school settings is yet another way our programs and preceptors are preparing our students for real world athletic training application. Special thanks to Erica Williams. She continues to be an incredible teacher and mentor for our MSAT students.

Hands-on learning in ATTR 2300!

Our Introduction to Athletic Training students practiced cervical spine stabilization and spine-boarding techniques at the SHSU Conroe campus. These pre-professional students are interested in pursuing our MSAT program and are getting an early start developing their athletic training skills. Future ATs in action!

Friday night lights at Montgomery ISD Stadium, where Montgomery took on Oak Ridge. On the sidelines for Montgomery first year MSAT student Katy Warren direction of Baylee Kulhmann and Robbie Wareham. Also at the game tonight on the sidelines for Oak Ridge was first year MSAT student Jacobi Williams, the direction of preceptor Rebecca Mathews and Todd Merrill. Both of these institutions have served as well as excellent locations for clinical training and prepare students. The opportunity to clinically, engage, to be actively instructed by experts in their field continue to mature and ready our students for the next phases of their clinical engagement and professional preparation. Thank you to our preceptor for doing such a good job with our students.

Porter vs. Caney Creek at New Caney ISD Stadium!

It was great to see so many members of our athletic training community together on the sidelines! The Porter High School athletic training team pictured here includes Kristy Hayes, Taylor Bennett, Kenny Quach, and Miriam Huerta, alongside first-year SHSU MSAT student Jesus Pineda. Miriam and Kenny serve Porter’s two middle schools as part of the Porter athletic training team.

We are especially proud to have SHSU MSAT alumni among this group—Taylor is a Cohort 2 alum and Kenny is a Cohort 4 alum!

Representing Caney Creek are Idalia Hernandez, a SHSU Athletic Training alum, and Danielle Blackwell, alongside first-year SHSU MSAT student Asiah Wooten.

Also pictured is Dr. Clark Dorman with UT Physicians, highlighting the collaborative healthcare team supporting these student-athletes.

We are incredibly grateful for our outstanding preceptors and clinical sites, where our MSAT students can apply their skills in real time, gain meaningful hands-on experience, and learn under expert supervision. It is especially rewarding to see our SHSU alumni giving back and helping develop the next generation of athletic trainers!

MSAT Cohort 5 student Samantha Salazar is representing SHSU during her clinical immersion with University Recreation & Wellbeing at the University of Wisconsin–Madison! 🦡

During her immersive experience, Samantha is gaining valuable hands-on experience alongside athletic trainers who provide injury evaluation and care, rehabilitation, injury prevention, return-to-play programming, and sports medicine education to the UW–Madison community.

We are proud to see our MSAT students expanding their clinical experiences, learning from athletic trainers across the country, and representing our program beyond Texas!

🏈 Game night in Willis as the Wildcats take on Klein Collins!

Second-year MSAT immersive student Marci Smith is on the sidelines for the Wildcats under the direction of preceptors Scott “Doc” McClatchy, Jordan Gonzalez, and Jordan Terrell.

On the Klein Collins sideline, first-year MSAT student Maiya Carter is gaining valuable experience under the direction of preceptor Amanda Bays, a proud SHSU alum!
