Itโs an incredibly busy time of year at James I. Dawson Elementary School, but we couldnโt let another day pass without sharing highlights from our amazing Field Day that was held last Friday!
A special thank you to Dr. Leverett and the Jemison Jags, along with our wonderful volunteers from the Sigmas and Center Grove United Methodist Church, for helping make this day so special for our students and their families. Your support, energy, and dedication made Field Day a huge success! ๐๐ฆ๐พ

Our Dawson Lions were invited to celebrate for reaching or exceeding their i-Ready end-of-year goals! ๐ฆ๐
Students had 9 exciting activities to choose from, including pet shows, art and crafts, board games, pottery, extra recess, computer time, outdoor games, and ice cream sundaes! It was a fun-filled week of celebrating hard work, growth, and achievement. We are so proud of our Lions! ๐โญ

Friday is the big day!
Parents can go ahead and send in concession stand money. The students will be given tickets to โpurchaseโ concession stand items. Please look at the flyer for prices.
Kona Ice will be on site selling treats. They will accept cash. If you send money for Kona Ice, please label it or make sure your student knows it is for Kona. The flyer has prices.
We would love for you to join us for the field day fun. Your childโs teacher can ask specific questions about the schedule. Most classes will begin the fun around 8:20.
It will be a hot day! Please send a water bottle so that your child can stay hydrated. If you would like your child to wear sunscreen or bug spray, please apply it before leaving the house.

On Friday, May 8th, our James I. Dawson Math Teams participated in the Huntsville City Schools Math Competition! Each team took part in an exciting โHour of Powerโ virtual competition, where students showcased their hard work, problem-solving skills, and teamwork.
Our students truly shined!๐ We are so proud of the dedication and determination they displayed throughout the competition.
The competition awards were announced today during a virtual award ceremony, making it a very exciting and memorable time for all involved. Congratulations to all of our math team participants on a job well done!
