A Celebration of Life honoring Gregory Alan Clare will be held at 5:00pm Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Heritage Church, 29768 Huntsville Brownsferry Road with Reverends Suzanne & Michael Katschke officiating. Doors will open thirty minutes prior to the service, and a short visitation will follow the service.

Greg was not a fan of all black for funerals, so per his request, feel free to wear lots of color and keep it casual if that’s your style because it sure was his! Seriously, wear jeans and a t-shirt if you choose. That’s how he was most comfortable!

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Greg’s memory to allow Angela to give back at the Clearview Cancer Institute. The volunteers made Greg’s treatment days easier and happier, and Angela would like to pay it forward for all that was done for Greg. The program is funded by the volunteers, so any donations would allow Angela to do more in Greg’s memory to help others in their time of need as she volunteers to make treatment days better for patients. Donations may be made through Venmo using -Clare-1 or you may contact Angela through Messenger for other donation avenues.

***Thank you to everyone that has already donated. I signed up to volunteer yesterday. You must be a cancer survivor or former caregiver to volunteer. This will not only honor Greg’s memory, it will help my grief journey. Seeing his team yesterday reminded me how much Greg was loved and cared for. The whole team at CCI is so caring and compassionate. I’m honored to be joining them to do a small part to give back. 💙🙌🏻💙

Airman Clare has battled Angiosarcoma for the last eleven months and has put up one heck of a fight! Last week, he came home on Hospice care. The declines have been rapid, and Greg doesn’t have much longer to fight his battle. Soon, he will be flying eternally, and his family asks for your prayers. Please pray for a peaceful passing and for the family to be comforted now and in the days to come.

Greg loved the flight community in his Air Force days, during his tenure with Boeing and in retirement with his gyro business. His whole life has been involved with flying in some capacity. It was a passion and a joy for him. There is no doubt he’ll be flying high with his Savior soon, and Greg’s joy will be complete. Thank you to those who have prayed for him and his family. This is a community that he holds near and dear to his heart!

Getting a tad too chilly here in north central Alabama, but still got in a couple great days for flight instruction. Last student for the year, Richard D. Randolph from Gastonia, NC. Job well done on the takeoffs & landings, sir! Until 2024, y'all!

Took a quick trip in N321Y from KHSV to Hazel Green (M38) and bumped into a fellow 'swing-wing' pilot and pal, Michael Messex.

Glad I was able to fly over the traffic jam instead of being stuck in rush hour traffic and got back to KHSV, just as the sun was setting! Nice little fall flight!

Well, I made it back, in one piece, from the Barnstormer's fall wing-ding in Wadesboro, NC last night. Lots of fun flying folks around in N728ME and hanging out with fellow gyronauts and my Barnstormer family.

I was also able to complete a flight review for a fellow gyronaut Wayne McCall and had the honor and priveledge of minting a new Sport Gyroplane pilot while I was there. Congratulations Jason Horne on joining our ranks! Well done!

One of the best highlights of the trip was reconnecting with one of my old Air Force compatriots, Richard Cleary , who made a special trip out to Wadesboro to catch up. Great to see him after 42 years and reminisce.

All of it was more fun than legally allowed and I'm looking forward to the next wing-ding in the spring! 😄

I hit the submit botton on my application to become a Designated Pilot Examiner for the FAA. I received notice that the application was successfully submitted and that I meet the basic requirements for the position. Now, the waiting begins! If I get invited to be a DPE, I will then have to go to OKC for training. We shall see!
