πŸš€πŸ† What. A. Weekend. We sent 4 teams to the 2026 NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge (2 human-powered rovers and 2 remote controlled rovers)β€” and they absolutely delivered. Beautiful weather, fierce competition, and a whole lot of engineering excellence on that lunar obstacle course. Here's what we came home with:
πŸ₯‡ Overall 1st Place
πŸ₯‰ Overall 3rd Place
πŸ… Most Improved Performance
πŸ… Project Review Award
πŸ’₯ Crash & Burn Award
🌟 Highest finish in program history
UAH, Auburn, and Alabama A&M β€” so proud of every single team. This is what happens when you put great engineers on a lunar obstacle course. πŸŒ•

Sweet home Alabama πŸŒΏπŸš€ β€” stunning nature, non-stop sports, and a whole city called Rocket City. She fit right in.

She explored the U.S. Space & Rocket Center β€” the world's largest spaceflight museum and official visitor center for NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center β€” found space murals around every corner, and got a behind-the-scenes look at three student teams doing incredible things:

Charger Rocket Works is building a real high-powered rocket for NASA's Student Launch β€” one of this year's mission requirements is flying a habitat with 4 crew members. They went with Lego. She approved. 🧱πŸ”₯

ASTRA builds Mars rovers for the University Rover Challenge β€” autonomous navigation, soil sampling, the real deal. πŸͺ

Moon Buggy builds human-powered lunar rovers for NASA's Human Exploration Rover Challenge. Back-to-back champions 2023 & 2024. πŸ†πŸŒ•

She wrapped up with Big Spring Park, Ditto Landing, Monte Sano, a UNA and UA campus visit (Roar Lions 🦁& Roll Tide 🐘), and college basketball with friends β€” because in Alabama, it's always all the sports. πŸ€ Open pool in early March? Loved it. 😍 The pollen? Less so. πŸ˜…πŸŒΌ
Fun fact: Alabama ranks 4th in the US for biodiversity. She saw the evidence firsthand.

We were lucky enough to intercept Astronaut Alessandra in DC! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ She helped tell the story of Space Grant on the hill, alongside colleagues from across the country, and networked at the national Space Grant and EPSCoR meeting (she is a natural). Ale also caught a stunning sunset and a delicious seafood platter at The Wharf. πŸŒ…πŸ¦ž

Stay tuned to see her Alabama adventures!
