For a New Beginning
In out-of-the-way places of the heart, where your thoughts never think to wander, this beginning has been quietly forming, waiting until you were ready to emerge. For a long time it has watched your desire, feeling the emptiness growing inside you, noticing how you willed yourself on,still unable to leave what you had outgrown. It watched you play with the seduction of safety and the gray promises that sameness whispered, heard the waves of turmoil rise and relent, wondered would you always live like this. Then the delight, when your courage kindled and out you stepped onto new ground, your eyes young again with energy and dream, a path of plenitude opening before you.Though your destination is not yet clear you can trust the promise of this opening; unfurl yourself into the grace of beginning that is at one with your life's desire. Awaken your spirit to adventure; hold nothing back, learn to find ease in risk; soon you will be home in a new rhythm, for your soul senses the world that awaits you.

New Class! Live via Zoom
Growing, Aging and Evolving With Mindfulness
Tuesday evenings November 8, 15, 22, 29 and December 6
5:30 - 7:00 (CDT)
6:30 - 8:00 (EDT)
In this life aging is inevitable. To paraphrase an old Andy Rooney quote, the idea of living a long life appeals to most of us but the idea of getting old does not. So how to do we grow and evolve as we meet this process called “aging”? A deeper dive into mindfulness may provide insight as each of us navigate the experience of a body and mind that are changing. And how do we relate to a world that may view us through a myopic lens? What does aging look like through the lens of mindfulness?
This program is designed for participants who have some mindfulness training or an established mindfulness practice. It will be a deeper dive into certain aspects of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) curriculum and how those aspects relate to our movement as human beings across the life-span. The course will revisit some of the core practices of mindfulness and how these practices support resilience and wisdom as we grow, age and evolve.

When we feel our feelings in a healthy way, they no longer need to drive our bus🚍
⏱set a timer for 🖐 minutes
O B S E R V E → Settle in and watch for feelings or sensations in your body. Observe what is present without judging it or trying to change it. You can imagine watching them as clouds floating by.
L O C A T E → See if you can determine how the feeling is showing up in your body. Is there an area that feels tight, tender, warm, tingling, or any other way? Draw your attention to that particular part of your body.
S O O T H E → Gently place your hand or both hands on the area where you notice the feeling/sensation. If it feels right, see if you can physically relax that part of your body as you exhale.
N A M E → As you think about what you’ve noticed, see if there is a word that would best describe the feeling, sensation or experience. Research tells us that when we understand what we feel by putting language to it, our emotional limbic brain can calm down and we can begin to regain access to our “thinking brain.”
V A L I D A T E → There is ALWAYS a valid reason for why you feel the way you do. Remind yourself of this. It might help to say: “it’s okay to feel this way.” Self-validation can lead to self-acceptance! You can also try: “I accept that this feeling is here.”
A S K → After gaining a deeper understanding of your emotional experience, you might have a better idea of what you need. You can ask yourself: what is this feeling trying to tell me and what potential unmet need is this feeling alerting me to?
By inviting our feelings in as honourable guests, we can create a healthy relationship with them and learn that we can feel without having them take over. • 📸.you.navigate
