⁣In my Parent-Infant class, I ask parents to take time to observe their child. They each have their own journal and I offer suggestions and ideas to encouragement them to observe in each class. 👀⠀

In this current class, parents have joked about how hard it is for them to do this- they rarely want to write in their journals. ⠀
⠀
Today we had a 8 1/2-year-old brother attending class with his little sister. He took care of the observation for the mom. ✅⠀
And he was spot on! 🥰⠀

I once heard a story about a long time Montessori guide who worked with toddlers. She was tired (maybe frustrated) with explaining her very important role as a teacher of young minds to others who didn’t understand Montessori or the crucial time in a young person’s life. So she changed what she said when people asked her what she did. “I work for world peace”. It was no less true and gave weight and importance to the work she did! So, as we are seeing the fighting in the world, and the trauma happening to families, I hope we can all recognize our blessings and privileges while also recognizing the great task we all have in nurturing the great potential of young children.

We love our favorite IG accounts- brining us laughter, perspective, support and ideas.

But if we want to get the most out of what the author of the post was suggesting- do some more digging. READ THE CAPTIONS- at the very least! They may explain their ideas or suggestions further. Maybe they even have a workshop or Q&A session about their expertise.

You and your child are unique. Each situation, with each child you support deserves its own thoughtfulness.

Best scenario- you can reach out to experts in their field and they can work with you, individually.

So weather it’s a Montessorian, a lactation specialist, an OT, a therapist, etc. - their words and posts can be even more impactful if you dig a little deeper into their work. If it matches what you or your child needs, work with them. You and your child will be better because of it!

Give babies the space and opportunity for free, uninhibited movement. Yes, this means as little time as possible in containers- including car seats, swings, bouncy seats, etc. Pediatricians and pediatric OTs and PTs would agree that with free movement, lots of issues can resolve on their own. *Always check with your child’s pediatrician if you have concerns.
