Memory Verse!!!!

Put this verse in your heart this week as you consider your purpose.

You were saved for more than just sitting around and letting life pass you by. You were made to be salt - purifying, preserving, and flavoring the world around you through your words and actions.

You were made to be light - shining in a dark place, illuminating the dark deeds done in secret, and pointing the way to THE light of God in Jesus.

You were made for more. Live like it.

NEW SERIES!

Starting this week, we're going to see what Jesus has to say about our purpose. He calls us "salt" and "light," but what does that reveal about how we should live our lives?

Middle and high school small groups start at 9am and 10:45am - see you there!

A full week of blood, sweat, tears, and poison ivy can't be summed up in just ten pictures.

We weeded. Painted. Put up drywall. Literally gave out cups of cold water in Jesus's name.

We pray over the seeds that were planted and watered, and we come back changed as we've tried to be world changers.

Hope to see you next year!

"Why not just give up?"

Maybe someone has asked you that before during a particularly tough time. Maybe you've asked it of yourself.

Then you read through a passage like this in 2 Corinthians 4: "We are pressed but not crushed, persecuted but not abandoned, struck down but not destroyed..."

You might wonder, "How could Paul write those words? Was he just naturally more mentally tough than I am?"

What we come to find out in the rest of the chapter, though, is that the power to persevere came not from inside himself, but by the power of God working in and through him. As he identified more closely with Jesus's suffering and death on the cross, he could see through to the resurrection of Jesus and his own redemption and the relief it brought to his soul.

For us, the same can be true. On the outside, we might be facing pressures and heartaches and trials no one else can imagine. But in our spirits, if we have fully trusted Christ and wholeheartedly devote ourselves to Him, we will be renewed daily because His love and mercy never run out on us.

So put these words in your heart so that you'll be ready to persevere - not just to build up some fake "mental toughness," but to truly know who you are so you can be confident that whatever comes, you are going to be all right.

That's a wrap!

This year at VBS, we had an army of students showing kids of all ages that God is great by looking at the smallest things - from a butterfly to a fingerprint, He made it all and cares for it all.

Thank you to all the families who participated and gave your time, efforts, and perseverance - we know VBS is tough, but you all are making an impact on the next generation.

What do you do when you're feeling sorry for something? When you're sad that you did it? When you're guilt-ridden and shame is starting to creep in?

Do you spiral and assume that you're worthless, that nothing good can ever come of it, and that you've messed up too badly to be loved?

That's what the Bible calls "worldly grief" - the sorrow that leads into a shame spiral few ever come out of.

What if instead we let that grief, guilt, and shame lead us to God's throne of grace? What if it made us turn around instead of falling down? What if we listened to God's Holy Spirit and repented of our sins and experienced a salvation that took away all our regrets? Wouldn't that be better?

Put this week's verse into your heart, and remember that the brokenness you're feeling can lead you right back to the Savior who loves you.
