Congratulations to our 2026 Top Scholars, 23 dedicated and driven incoming Honors College students who interviewed this weekend for a spot in the 40th cohort of Yeager Scholars!
During their time on campus, the students had four interviews, a mock seminar, time with our deans, a student social, and VIP treatment at TEDx Marshall U.
We are eager to welcome these students to Marshall this fall!

In 1987, the first group of finalists came to Marshall University.
In 2026, we will select our 40th class.
Grateful for every year, every cohort, and every person who makes the Yeager program exist.

We know him best as one of our Yeager seminar professors, but Brandon Dennison works hard daily to bring opportunity straight to the hands of hard-working people.

We are still reliving the amazing moments from last night's Dancing With the Herd event. 💚💚💚
Student Body President Connor Waller and SGA Director of Alumni Engagement Piper Cook, along with Vice President of Alumni Relations Matt James and members of their SGA Cabinet, raised $38,746 that will directly support students with tuition costs, emergency needs, study abroad, and women’s leadership opportunities.
Congratulations to Pres. Brad Smith and Alys Smith for winning the inaugural Marco Mirrorball trophy and encouraging our students as they support each other.

“Balancing the demands of being a Yeager scholar, athlete, and student researcher has been challenging at times. Managing my commitments has involved getting runs in between classes while studying abroad or leaving for a conference immediately after returning from a race. Though my free time is rare during particularly heavy weeks, each activity gives me a unique sense of fulfillment that motivates me to keep moving forward.”
