Come to the Lufkin Christmas Parade at 6 today. We will be entry Number 2. LOL, right at the front. We may not have the most lights or decorations but we have been pretty creative. Our theme is "A Christmas Story" from the movie. Should be lots of fun and we would appreciate the support. We will be handing out HHS Gearheads bands to kids in the crowd so be there to get yours.

Out theme this year is "SUIT UP" for Nothing But Success. The students are currently selling ad space on the back of our official shirt. We are selling ads for a minimum of $100.00 per ad. These shirts will be worn by team members, coaches, fans, and students at school, in the community and at competitions. Contributions can be from individuals or businesses. Please let me know if you would like one of the team members to contact you about an ad. Deadline is November 6, 2015 for ads to be on this year's shirt. Don't miss out.

Thanks to our awesome coach, Kris Kirkland, who donates his time and energy to mentor these 11 young people. He is "true" coach. He doesn't just give the kids a solution but makes them walk through the problem and figure out all the possibilities. This is such a great learning process. He lets them make mistakes so that they learn from them. His guidance and leadership are invaluable to our team and we appreciate him greatly.

We are soooooo excited. We will be at the Catfish Festival in Huntington this weekend. We will have 2 robots for demonstrations and for kids to run. We will all be selling our Hexbugs for $4.00, $5.00, and $8.00. So come out and join in the fun.

BIG NEWS!!!!! Huntington High School Geareheads will now be competing in VEX Robotics. This is an international organization with outstanding opportunities for our students. We cannot wait for this new adventure!! More to come.

Never dull in Gearhead land. We are getting a start on the Angelina County Science and Technology Fair which is May 1, 2015 at the Expo Center in Lufkin. There will be two different competitions, SugoBots for the smaller Lego oriented robots and Wiffle Bots for the bigger metal robots. We should have nearly 100 students from Huntington High School participating in these two events. Cannot wait to see what they produce.

Over the next few weeks, I am going to feature each one of our seniors from the Robotics team. I would like for everyone to know about them, their plans, and all that they have accomplished. I know it isn't a lot but I want to feature them all they can. They are special kids and I want everyone to know that.

Well, it is the end to a great season. The kids won lots of awards through the year and have done a great job. Sometimes it is hard to understand but there is a reason for everything. Good luck to all our Seniors, they have a bright and awesome future ahead of them.

This has to be one of the most challenging robots ever. The kids have been working so very hard since the last competition but we just cannot seem to get it like we want it. But, of course, this bunch never gives up. We are still working, hopefully will finish in the next hour, and be on our way to the college for some intense practice. I cannot believe their dedication. Perseverance will prevail and we will be ready whatever it takes.
