Child Development Academy at Marshall University

Today was a beautiful day to be a Child of Marshall at the Child Development Academy. 💚

Our most cuddly guy, Marco himself, visited all six classrooms — bringing lots of smiles, a little bit of wide-eyed wonder, and so much joy. From curious looks to excited waves, our children were thrilled to see him walk through their classrooms.

The Sheep classroom welcomed Marco with big smiles, a very happy rendition of “Happy Birthday,” and some sweet treats for him to take along on his travels. It was such a special surprise!

Thank you, Marco, for spending time with us and filling our hallways with laughter. You truly brought so many smiles to our children’s faces.

And as if the day couldn’t get any sweeter, we had a special surprise — a crocus popped up and bloomed in our new flower garden. A perfect reminder that spring (and growth) is always on the way. 🌸

We were pleased to welcome Congresswoman Carol Miller to the Child Development Academy at Marshall University today. She took time to learn about our early learning program, meet with our staff, and see firsthand how the Academy supports children and families in our community. We appreciate her interest in the important work happening here each day.

Due to inclement weather, Marshall University and CDA is closed today, Wednesday, Feb. 4.

Yesterday, the Child Development Academy spent Childcare Day at the Capitol meeting with delegates and advocating for childcare bills currently awaiting adoption. Our voices matter, and this work continues.

Because of continuing poor road & parking lot conditions, Marshall University and the CDA will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 28.

We were honored to welcome the WV Japanese Outreach Program from Marshall University to the Child Development Academy.

Our children had a wonderful opportunity to engage in a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, dress in beautiful kimonos, and explore elements of Japanese culture through hands-on learning. Experiences like these help broaden our students’ understanding of the world and celebrate the beauty of diverse traditions.

At CDA, we value the uniqueness in everyone and believe in fostering respect and appreciation for all cultures. We are truly grateful to the WV Japanese Outreach Program for sharing their time, knowledge, and culture with our students. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!
