Beyond the Jersey🤘

This week’s student-athlete highlight features Chason Clark.

Chason is from Starke, FL, and is a member of Marshall University’s Football team, where he plays linebacker. He is pursuing a degree in Psychology and is part of the Class of 2027. After college, Chason hopes to continue his football career professionally before eventually pursuing a career in high school coaching.

Outside of football, Chason has a passion for music and enjoys playing multiple instruments, including guitar and piano.

“I would thank the donors for everything they do for Marshall athletes. Their support gives us opportunities to succeed both on and off the field, and it means more to us than they may realize. I’m proud to represent Marshall, and Go Herd!”

Beyond the Jersey🤘

This week’s student-athlete highlight features Ryan Muktar.

Ryan is a junior from Beckley, WV, and is a member of Marshall University’s Track & Field team, where he competes in the high jump. He is pursuing a degree in Biochemistry with a minor in Pre-Professional Health and hopes to compete at the national level. After graduation, Ryan plans to pursue a career as an anesthesiologist.

Outside of athletics and academics, Ryan currently works in a lab conducting research in organic chemistry and helps with parking at The Refinery in Huntington. He enjoys playing sports, watching movies, exploring fashion, cheering on and encouraging his teammates, and is even learning Japanese.

Ryan was born in Nairobi, Kenya, and is Sudanese American.

“I would start off by saying thank you for all of their support. Everything I’ve been able to experience and learn at Marshall is thanks to them and my coaches. I hope they enjoy all the sporting events, and I look forward to seeing how their great help continues to shape Marshall.”

Beyond the Jersey🤘

This week’s student-athlete highlight features Carys Kerr.

Carys is a sophomore from Cary, North Carolina, and is a member of Marshall University’s Volleyball team, where she plays as a pin hitter. She is pursuing a degree in Business with a minor in Marketing. After graduation, Carys is interested in pursuing a career in athletics marketing, while also exploring opportunities in real estate.

Outside of volleyball and the classroom, Carys plans to coach club volleyball for WV Galaxy this fall. She also enjoys attending The Refinery with her teammates, going on walks with her roommates around Ritter Park or along the river, shopping, and trying new restaurants.

“Thank you for making my experience here at Marshall above and beyond. This past year has been amazing, and getting to be a part of such a close community is something I greatly cherish. My time here wouldn’t be the same, and I wouldn’t be able to play the sport I love without the support from all the donors. Thank you so much!”

Empowering Women in Athletic Leadership

Tuesday, September 8th from 5:30pm-7:30pm @ the Dutch Miller Deck at Marshall U Football Stadium

Join us for an inspiring conversation with four Herd women who have translated the skills, resilience, and competitive mindset developed through athletics into successful leadership careers. Panelists will share their experiences breaking barriers and leading with confidence and authenticity while creating opportunities for the next generation of female athletes and leaders.
