Celebrate Homecoming with us, Sept. 21-26!

This year’s theme, “’80s Echoes: Come Back Curious,” brings a little ’80s nostalgia to campus as we welcome Grand Marshal Joe Chrest, a 1986 Marshall graduate and “Stranger Things” actor.

Students, alumni and friends are invited to join us for some of our favorite Homecoming traditions, including the Unity Walk, Party on the Plaza, Homecoming Parade and Bonfire, Alumni Tailgate and more. Then, we’ll cap off the week on Saturday as the Thundering Herd takes on Gardner-Webb and we crown our 2026 Homecoming Royalty!

Meet Dominick Barham, a Cyber Forensics and Security major from Hampton, Virginia, who’s making a big impact at Marshall! From getting involved with Student Government, the Campus Activities Board and Student Affairs, Dominick is passionate about creating a welcoming campus for everyone.

With deep Marshall roots, he came to Marshall thinking he knew what to expect – but being a student opened up so much more.

“Marshall meets people where they are. Professors learn your name. The people in Student Affairs know what you are working on. There is a culture here of investment, where the community shows up for its students.”

A Marshall alumnus who once served as the university’s first webmaster, Dr. David Wiley returns to a familiar position: helping Marshall navigate a transformative new technology.

In his new role, he will help guide how AI can advance teaching, learning, research and the student experience while addressing important questions around academic integrity, privacy, cybersecurity, bias and misinformation.

“The world is changing because of generative AI, and this moment is filled with both peril and possibility for higher education,” Dr. Wiley said.

The Marshall community gathered today to honor the lives of all who were lost in the September 11, 2001 attacks, including Marshall University alumnus Dr. Paul Ambrose.

Today's memorial events began with a stair challenge and heroes’ breakfast and continued with a tribute walk, guest speakers and a first responder vehicle wash.

For Jamie Lima, Dolly Parton has been an inspiration for nearly her entire life. Today, she gets to help carry Dolly’s mission forward for thousands of West Virginia children.

As state director of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library WV, Jamie works through Marshall University’s June Harless Center to help put books into the hands of approximately 50,000 children each year.

Jamie shared how her career came full circle, what it was like to meet Dolly and why investing in early literacy is one of the most meaningful ways we can keep Dolly’s dream alive.
