Join us as we welcome our new 6th grade science teacher, Bethany Forbes. Get to know a little bit about Mrs. Forbes and her journey to us at Huntington Middle School:

“My name is Bethany Forbes, and I am excited to join the 6th grade team as a science teacher. I graduated from Marshall University in 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.

Originally from Wayne County, West Virginia, my passion for education began while working with Energy Express in Wayne County for three summers. In addition to helping students strengthen their reading skills, I enjoyed leading STEM activities that encouraged curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving, helping spark my passion for science education.

After graduating from Marshall, I became a substitute teacher in both Putnam and Cabell counties before serving as a long-term substitute in 6th grade at Huntington East Middle School. Most recently, I taught 5th grade at Spring Hill Elementary, where I enjoyed building relationships with students and families while helping students grow both academically and personally.

I am married to my husband, Seth, and together we have a two-year-old son, Graham.”

Our staff has been busy cleaning out spaces at school this week. Our trophy case has also been cleaned out and organized. We have so many old trophies from HMS, Cammack, and West. If you would like to claim one from a championship you were a part of, stop by the school this afternoon or on Thursday.

More special moments from our 8th Grade Celebration.

Teams 7A and 7B had their own awards assembly yesterday as well. Each team celebrated their awesome students in the most 7A and 7B of ways. Congratulations to the 7th graders!

Before our celebration yesterday, our 8th graders got to have time together in the cafeteria for a special breakfast that our cooks prepared for them. It was a great way to start such a special morning.

It was a day that our 8th graders had been waiting for all year: our 8th Grade Celebration was yesterday and it was one for the books. Congratulations to all of our 8th graders who are moving on to high school. You have brought so much joy to our building these last three years and we will miss you. Good luck to you all!
