Silas Wood Pre-K Center opened their doors this week for their very first Meet & Greets and Signing Days! This was a wonderful opportunity for new students and their families to visit the school, meet members of our staff, and begin getting comfortable with the building and new school community.

After meeting their classroom teachers, students added their signature “paw print” on their special Pre-K certificates, marking the beginning of their Wildcat journey in South Huntington! 🐾🐾

We were so excited to welcome our incoming 6th graders and their families for orientation today at the new Memorial Sixth Grade Center - and the building was buzzing! Students picked up a copy of their official class schedules, walked the halls, met their new teachers, and explored their different subject classrooms to get ready for the big transition.
The highlight of the day? Locker assignments! Watching everyone get used to learning their lock combinations and tackle that classic school rite of passage.
We can’t wait to see these halls full again when school officially kicks off next Tuesday. A warm and happy welcome to our very first class of Memorial 6th graders! Let’s make it an incredible year. 🐾📚✏️🚌💻🎒

Stimson Middle School opened their doors today for their New Student Orientation. Incoming 7th graders received guided tours of the building from our 8th grade volunteers, and had the opportunity to walk the halls to where their classes will be and practice unlocking their lockers. This was a great chance for Stimson’s 7th graders and their families to meet the middle school teachers, new administrators, and to learn about what to expect during their first year at Stimson. We look forward to day one of classes and for an exciting year ahead!

Major progress is happening inside our brand-new broadcast studio at Walt Whitman High School! The space that used to be a classroom (Room 223) has been fully transformed with a window wall separating the control room from the studio, new flooring, fresh paint, full green screen and draping installations, a complete overhead lighting grid, and three production cameras fully equipped with teleprompters. We’ve even installed a viewing window along the hallway wall so students passing by can watch the action inside the studio and see our crews at work. Right now, final gear installation is underway in the control room.
This state-of-the-art facility will serve as the hands-on hub for several new courses launching this school year including Broadcasting, Advanced Broadcasting, and Podcasting. Paired with Whitman’s existing recording studio, the addition of the Broadcast Center truly takes our media program to the next level. Stay tuned for our official ribbon cutting.🎙️🎥🎤🐾

The Suffolk Chapter of the National Football Foundation (NFF) partnered with the Suffolk County High School Football Coaches Association to host the 3rd Annual Suffolk County Football Media Day at the Hyatt Regency. Coaches were invited to bring their top returning players and speak about the upcoming season at the annual event, helping to promote high school football programs across the county.

We were fortunate to have six athletes from Walt Whitman High School represent South Huntington’s football program alongside Head Coach Ralph Milazzo. Seniors Dodge Alahverdian (QB), Timmy Harrison (WR/CB), Ronnie Park (RB/LB), Lucas Tonna (WR/CB), and juniors Mark Rutledge (RB/LB) and Jason Thompson (WR/FS) were able to take a break from pre-season practices last week to attend the event and we are proud of these athletes for representing our district and Division I team.

In his first season as Head Coach for Varsity Football, Coach Milazzo is excited to build upon the legacy of his predecessor, Robin Rosa. “He’s taken us to the playoffs and county championship. For us, the biggest thing is hard work,” Milazzo said. “We’re in the weight room; we’re watching film. We know how challenging it is to compete in Division I football. We know what it takes to win at this level, and we work as hard as we can every single day to make that happen.”

We look forward to the upcoming season and seeing them and the rest of the Wildcats out on the fields!
